 - got it love itI bought this and my friends told me how hard to hook up..so of course went into it scared, put the cd in and followed instructions did not work. So I uninstalleded, cooled down put cd in just put a user name and pass word and I was in business..I have a very big yard took my laptop outside and got internet every where I went, love it. Rating:  - Oh my this router stinks!I ordered this router because of the high rating it received. I've had nothing but trouble with it. It was a miracle if I could get online first thing in the morning, & even if I could, it was only a matter of minutes before I got kicked offline, & I had to repeatedly plug & unplug (for 30 seconds each time) the router to get maybe another 5-10 minutes of online time. I used their online chat tech support, & downloaded firmware, reset the router, & nothing worked. So they had me send back the router & they sent me a new one. Same problems started immediately. I've had it. I thought Linksys would be a really good router because of Cisco's reputation. I was wrong. I've bought a Belkin N-Router instead & am hoping it works better. Rating: - Works well, but...This wireless router functions very well AFTER you get it set up. The self install format did not work with my broadband provider and required a rather lengthy phone call to customer support, who admitted that the CD installation process rarely succeeded! It would appear that Linksys needs to update its installation software as well as provide more documentation other than just a single page of instructions. Rating: - The only thing worse than this router was the customer supportI was excited about this new router, thinking that with the two large antennas, it would give great range. Unfortunately I still have not been able to test the range. For starters, the power cord was dead on arrival. After searching for about a half an hour, I was finally able to find a phone number for support. After three different phone calls, and being transferred to numerous different people and long hold times, I gave up on getting a new power cord and scavenged one from an old router I had. Once I was able to power-up, I connected to the router via wires no problem,however, I was unable to get the wireless side to work. After two more calls to customer service and over 2 hours of trying to talk it through with them, I was told that my only option would be to pay $9.99 so tech support could log onto my computer to try and fix the problem. At that point I decided that it just wasn't worth it to keep throwing good time and money at this problem. In reality the only option I had left was to send the router back. I realize that sometimes products are defective and I don't judge linksys negatively for what may have been an isolated incident. However, there is no way that the incredibly poor and useless customer support that I received was isolated. Rating: - Stay Away From This Paricular Linksys Wireless Router Model and......get the acclaimed Linksys WRT 54 GL instead. It's a different and superior animal - a much more competent and reliable performer. They appear identical but they're not. A housemate originally installed his WRT 54G and we routinely had dropped internet connections, usually at least once a day. Had to go into the room where it was kept and recycle it, a real nuisance....disconnect the power cord and wait for about 20 seconds before plugging it back in. When the housemate moved out, he left the router; didn't want it back. I bought the model #WRT54GL after reading the mostly 5 and 4 star rated user reviews here at Amazon and have, so far, experienced smooth sailing...no dropped connections yet. UPDATE: Unfortunately, the Linksys WRT54GL that I bought went bad after 2 week's use. Worked fine then experienced extremely slow internet connections and constant rebuffering(quitting) with iTunes streams. The WRT54GL is going back to Amazon. I'll be looking for a better quality, more reliable router. . No more Linksys products for me. What a bummer!
