I comapred it to one on my freeze fraim on my dvd show & its 100 perfect!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is a great toy and or collectors piece
I just had to write about this phaser. I bought the Playmates phaser in 1994 and thought that was great (It is one piece) but I always wanted one that could separate in two. The Art Asylum is as good as the playmates in durability (but with all plastic toys careful handling is recommended), that is the reason I gave it a 4. The sounds are better along with the destruct and the two piece set up is fun. The reason why I gave the education a 4 was that the phaser blinks and the tv one and the playmates did not. I gave it a 5 for fun because I really have fun playing with it. It separates and still fires, you can turn the round silver switch so the light can be off or on when firing (which can save battery life). You can select the power levels from high to off. After the plastic tab is pulled you need to adjust the selector in order to make the phaser work. That is something the directions do not explain. Also read the directions for separating the two pieces or you can damage it. You have to pull the gold rod on the side out to release it. All in all a great toy. I just hope they make a communicator and a tricorder soon.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fun for 40 year olds!
I'm amazed how thrilling it is to carry this thing around the house and shoot at my kids. As a 70's elementary school Star Trek fan, I always wanted a toy phaser. My dreams have come true! Now I just have to figure out how to take it away from my 5-year-old son. (I think I'll need two more: one for him and one to bring to the office.)

No matter how old you are, if you ever wanted a phaser, BUY THIS. It's very well constructed, sized for adult hands (though fine for kids), looks and sounds authentic (surprisingly good detail), you'll love to hold it, and it'll just look cool sitting on your kitchen counter!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Set Phasers on Cheese!!!
This item kept us well entertained for a few hours as we ran about the house doing impressions of Kirk, Spock, and Bones. the Phaser has the cheese factor of the original TV show as well with it's space age plastic (about the same quality as the real props I have seem from the original show). I have had the opportunity to compare this one to the Masters Replica version, and the only real difference is the small Phaser controlls fire on the top and not with the botton on the bottom, the Masters has a stun sound setting, the sound quality is a little better, the Masters version is mad of ABS (not plastic), and the Masters version is five times as expensive. At first glance side by side, they even look the same. You would actually have to pick them both up to see much of a differnce. This is a great geek toy, and will satisfy the true Trekies wish for authentic TV series cheese factor 10. I should hope to see a bunch of Phaser packing Trekies at the next Trek convension in San Diego.
