- An ok product. This console is basically the same as the PS2 gamewise. However it may boast good qualities about it, it still has it's flaws. This review is unbiased as I have a GameCube, PS2, and an Xbox. The Pros: 1. The Xbox has a large library of games to suit any gamer. 2. This system does have slightly better graphics than the other systems. 3. The controllers are easy to learn and use. 4. It has a Hard Drive so you don't have to buy those expensive memory cards. 5. It can support Dolby Digital for extreme sound quality. 6. You can play online via Xbox Live. The Cons: 1. One of the most feared defects of the Xbox console. The Coma Console. This occurs when the BIOS on the motherboard has gone bad and you cant play games on it anymore. It is irreversible and can only be fixed by replacing your motherboard (which I did myself) This will occur to most systems eventually. 2. The console is huge! You will have to find a large surface to put it on to prevent overheating. 3. It is very loud when running. 4. The console has many other defects that can occur. 5. Xbox Live costs money while PS2 online is free. So overall, I can't recommend either PS2 or Xbox over each other. I've had my problems with both. But if your looking for online play, PS2 is the way to go. (Just make sure if your getting a PS2 that it's the slimline model because the original is faulty.) Rating: - XBox is a great valueMy sons are having a great time. Unit purchased slightly used with 5 games and an extra controller. Excellent value off the price of a new unit. Rating: - Best ConsoleThe original Xbox is still the best console out there. Even with the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 I love my xbox. There are more games for it than anything else and they are always the best games. Who can resist Halo 2 after all? If you're thinking about a console, get an original xbox, it's good for all ages. Rating: - Its so easy to hate microsoftMy xbox is broken and has been for a long time. I had a large library of games at one time and still have many of them but i had no interest in replacing my xbox. It never quite worked as well as my friends' did from the day i got it. Microsoft uses several different manufacturers to build the dvd drives for it, why... shhh... to keep the costs down. So while my friends xboxes all worked fine and experienced no slow down or frequent dirty disc errors mine (possessing the Thompson drive widely accepted as the crappiest yet costing me the same $ (also cannot play cdrs))sucked on a consistent basis and eventually pissed me off so much playing gta san andreas, morrowind, and halo 2 that i considered it broken and stopped using it. I dont know w/e i guess i just felt like complaining. Go buy a Wii, Nintendo loves you... at least until i get pissed off at them but i cant really see that happening. Rating: - A great unit, now more affordable to make a step towads the expensive units!!!This is a great system to purchase and break yourself into the better graphics gaming systems of today. The price has dropped remarkably on these, and there are lots of excellent titles. Again, a problem with this unit is running very warm, but you must keep it in the open and well ventelated. The controlers are a little combersome two work with, and loading times can be a bit, but a very nice unit for a christmas gift for those who have not had a newer generation system to practice with. Check this out, you will not be dissapointed.
