Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good learning tool and it isn't perfect but there aren't any half stars for rating above. I give it 4 1/2 stars.
I admit that there aren't many choices to choose from as far as hawaiian language learning if you don't actually live in Hawaii so some say I should not be "picky". This program does provide a good base to start from. It has interactive lessons that you use to learn the sound and proper pronuceation of the word/object and memory tests in which they show the object and you pick from a list of what the Hawaiian name is or vise versa based on what you just learned from the lesson. I like the fact that you can choose in what order you learn each lesson and that you may repeat each lesson and test multiple times until you feel that you have retained the information, and for those people who use flash cards to aid memorization each lesson has a printable list that lists out the vocabulary to be learned and the definitions. Learning a new language is hard and you will have to study vocabulary outside of the computer program to really absorb the vocabulary, it is not a quick fix or learn by osmosis method, you will have to try. I think they should create a workbook to accompany the program. I do not like the fact that each lesson moves so quickly, I know it is like speed learning but wow. Another thing I do not like is sometimes the graphics can be a bit odd and even though the speaker who's voice is used is a native speaker it is not reflected in the generic person that is shown on the screen. For what it is, it is definately worth the $30 for a beginners class.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Cool
My daughter and I are learning. I was born in Hawaii and we went to a Luau in FL on vacation. Since we found it sad that even very few native Hawaiians speak Hawaiian, we wanted to learn some. We are having fun. We learned our colors in a week.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - I was expecting more.
It was good and yes, I can get a lot out of it. However, I was really looking for a talking dictionary so that I could enter the word and get the proper pronunciation.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Vocabulary Builder
This is a fantastic value. It does not replace talking with live people, or having conversations (no CD or book could!), but it does a terrific job in building vocabulary, or for getting started when you don't have a native speaker to learn from. The set includes months worth of study, going from beginner-beginner to fairly advanced vocabulary, and includes a plethora of activities, which are fun and useable for early gradeschool to adult. Well worth the cost.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome Teaching Tool
This is an excellent teaching tool for those who are unfamiliar with the language, especially since it gives a phonetic voice to the words, one gets the correct emphesis on the word so as not to confuse one word for another's meaning.
