- stick with version 6Unfortunately, in 'improving' its software, FINAL DRAFT has taken out its best features. One can no longer go from index card, or outline, directly to scene from Navigator. It has also crashed three times. Worthless, really. Bring back v.6 and dump this junk. Rating: - Simple, intuitive30 seconds after loading the program on my computer, I was writing a script. You don't need to be David E. Kelly to figure out how to write the script format you want. Rating: - Useful, but flawedFinal Draft 7 is a nice piece of software. It is easy to use and it has a number of nice features (my favorite: assigning voices to characters and listening to the program read your script). This application really streamlines the process of writing a script, which is nice. You don't need to worry about wasting time formating. It's all automated. Now to the bad stuff. This program is riddled with bugs. It crashes very frequently. I can't tell you how annoying it is to be intensely involved with your work only to have Final Draft crash on you, destroying pages of unsaved work. If you get this program then you will find yourself in the habit of pressing ctrl+S (save) every few lines. Overall, Final Draft 7 is a useful, but flawed program. There's no denying its ease of use in crafting screenplays, but it can also be a major headache when it crashes. Rating: -
Watch Out Hollywood, Here I Come! I have been writing short scripts since I was 11. I used Word to write them. Now that I am in older, I am learning that following the traditional Hollywood script conventions make sense now that I am sending my work to scriptwriting contests, etc. I got Final Draft because all my friends said it was 'what everybody used'. Normally, I would resist following this kind of advice, since I've always thought of myself as not being like everyone else & not following the crowd - but it was correct in this case. Scripts are literally flowing out of me now. Watch out Oscar, save one for me! Rating: - I am in LOVE with this program!!F Scott said it best - "...there are WRITERS & there are those of us who write." I write. And write. And write. I have no time. Actually, I don't have time 2 write this, but I am, because this program rocks! I used 2 use Word, have it all setup with my own template and all. Someone in Hllywd **strongly suggested** I get Final Draft, and I bought it here (because amazon has the best prices). I was reluctant 2 switch. Now in re-writes, I am a true believer in screenwriting software. Why didn't I get this years ago? Wow. If you WRITE (scripts) and don't have a copy of Final Draft, do yourself a favor and check it out before you waste another minute. Cheers!
