Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great machine
I purchased this ice cream maker along with the Ben & Jerry book. It worked perfectly from the start. I did not have any problem following the directions to assemble the 2 parts to my mixer (it could not have been simplier) and it has not come apart once while making ice cream. This machine is all that my husband and I need to enjoy very good quality gourmet ice cream and it makes enough for at least 4 people. I add an extra cup of cream or milk to the recipes in the Ben & Jerry book and the ice cream maker accommodates it very well. If you are using a recipe that has chunks of any kind just be sure to follow the directions and add them during the last couple of minutes of making the ice cream. Add the chunks gently a few spoonfuls at a time and you will not have a problem. Your ice cream will be a trouble free gourmet quality ice cream experience. If it does not make enough for some families, well, you can only get 2 quarts of ice cream out of a 2 quart ice cream maker. If you have room to store the bowl in your freezer you can make ice cream most any time you want, which is what I do. I easily rate this KitchenAid attachment with 5 stars!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love it!
this is the best ice cream maker. I have had others and this one is so simple and easy to use, especially the cleaning.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Yumm-O!!
Ice cream maker attachment works great! I have one suggestion for users about adding chunky bits to their homemade ice cream. You really have to wait until the ice cream is pretty much done b/c once you add the chunky bits, the mixing blade starts skipping. All the recipes I've read say that you are supposed to add chunky stuff during the last 5 minutes of mixing, but I had to stop my mixer pretty much as soon as I was done adding my chunks.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - ice cream attachment
Great great attachment for my mixer - I bought this and have used it constantly for different types of sorbet and ice cream - the vanilla ice cream recipe that comes with it is so rich!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very handy equipment
This attachment makes excellent ice cream. After reading the reviews, I purchased the unit and have several comments. I had a thirty year old well used stand K-5 and I too had difficulty attaching the dasher. Kitchen Aid customer service worked with me to ensure my satisfaction to a high level rarely seen in todays world. I cannot say enough for their response to my problem. The ability to fill the bowl is easily handled by using a stainless steel mixing bowl to pour the mixture into the freezer bowl, no different than using the regular bowls on the stand mixer. The need to cool the mix to near freezing before churning is only an in-convenience if not planned for in advance. Also be sure your freezer is working properly. Measure the temperature and be sure it is zero F or lower where it should be for proper food storage. All in all, this is a great way to produce frozen deserts and drinks for a small family. Larger quantities can be prepared by planning and production through several days in advance. Obviously, this is not designed for a family of eight to have home made ice cream every night, but a batch could be completed once a day easily. Freezing the bowl for 18 hours is a small price to pay for not packing a conventional freezer with ice and salt and then churning for an hour or so. Properly chilled mix can produce a full batch in about 15 minutes. It is really great to have attachments for one power source rather than another full machine eventually destined to the appliance graveyard in the cellar.
