- Top season for the best of the Star Trek seriesWhat more can you say about the forth season them 'The Killing Game I & II'. 'Year Of Hell I & II' also qualify as two of the best episodes the series had to offer. A must have for true trekies! Rating: - All These Reviews Are Logical -- Season 4 Was the BestAt the time of this writing STAR TREK has grown to around 700 hours of TV and movies; I've lived them all. But I must admit it's been touch-and-go for TREK since around, oh...VOYAGER's fifth season. For some reason in 1998 with that season and the movie, INSURRECTION, TREK fell completely flat. Don't get me wrong--I love TREK, but for the first time (with the exception of DS9's final season) it began to repeat itself, and for five or six years we've been treated to episode after episode of Space Pirates--something Gene Roddenberry said he never wanted STAR TREK to become. In other words, episode after episode of ruthless, needy aliens trying to take the ship's technology by force...or just mug Seven of Nine. VOYAGER's fourth season, finally available on DVD, was the last great TREK year in my opinion (although ENTERPRISE is really starting to heat up going into its fourth year). VOYAGER's fourth season remains its best season. It was well balanced, edgy and dark, never tiresome, and downright chilling at times. There was no cliffhanger at the end of the season, true, but in a way that was a surprise too, especially after you know the nature of "Hope and Fear," the last story in the set. Guest star Andy Dick working off of Robert Picardo's Doctor as a second EMH in "Message in a Bottle" made for one of the funniest episodes of all time, and poignant too. And we can't leave out the "Killing Game" two-parter and the introduction to the hunter race, the Hirogen. "The Omega Directive" rivals the original series in bite, and "Demon" and "One" are great stories as well. If you're new to TREK, VOYAGER's fourth season is not a bad place to start collecting the episodes. If you're a long-time fan purchasing this set is a given. Rating: - Year of Hell! The 'Year of Hell' episodes were awesome. This episode, I think, is second only Season 3's 'Future's End'. I love Voyager, and I love 7 of 9 of course. (Who doesn't?) If you don't know about Voyager, Season 4 is a great place to start, since this is when the series really got going. Although some episodes are better than others, this season and this series is definitely one of the best! ... VOYAGER! Rating: - Really Good, Not Really GreatI really did enjoy this Season, but there was a lot I thought was either overstated or understated. I really hated it when Kes left and, while I can understand how it could have been hard trying to figure out what to do with a character that ages so quickly, that really soured me on the Series for a while. I also think Seven of Nine was too predominant in the episodes. I thought the entire idea of having an ex-Borg was great, but she didn't need to have her two cents worth in every story. Bottom Line: I would definitly get it, but it's definetly NOT my favorite Season. Rating: - Star Trak Voyager Series Release Sch.Season 4: 9/28 Season 5: 11/2 Season 6: 12/7 Season 7: 12/21
