Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - stay organized with a visor clip
I've used a 8500 with a visor clip on my 2004 suburban since new, and the detector works flawlessly up there. Couple this with a direct wire cord either to the fuse block or the powerport on the rear view mirror and you have a truly built in look. I laugh when I see people with the suction cups and wires going all over the place. What a mess !! 2 other reasons to use a clip:
1) my neighbor who is a police officer has told me that it REALLY irritates him when he pulls over a car and their "fuzzbuster" is in plain view stuck to the windshield. Any hopes of getting off with a warning thereby go down the drain.
2) thieves see a detector stuck to the windshield and SMASH, its stolen !!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love this visor clip
This is much better than the windshield mount. I can hear the radar go off much faster and better because it is much closer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Perfect for mounting above rear view mirror

This is exactly what I wanted - no wires, nothing on the dash, and yet still readable and reachable.

I use this clip to mount a Passport Solo above the rear view mirror in an Audi. If your vehicle has a little "mini shade" above the mirror it clips there perfectly. I found that clipping it on the driver's visor was too distracting - it makes the detector too close to your eyes to comfortably read it while driving.

Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that it should have been in the detector package ($4 is a ripoff for a little bit of metal), and that since the rear laser detector is on the top of a solo this way of mounting disables it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - When suction cups won't work
This device does exactly what it says it will do: mount your detector to the visor. And it works well for that purpose.

Escort advises that mounting the detector on the visor will reduce laser detection due to the tint on the windshield. However, I have a hard time with suction cups in the winter. This product lets me securely mount the detector until the windshield warms up enough to use the suction cups.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Waste of money.
Don't waste your money, buy the suction cups. Besides the radars come with mounts. You will understand after you read the book that comes with the radar. Using the visor would be a bad step for the radar.
