- I want a hostile take overNo not of the Enterprise, I am referring to the hostile take over of Paramount. They continue to market the most overpriced SciFi series of all. All the Star Treks are good, it is the company that owns them that is bad. Most SciFi series are under $60 for a season. Only Paramount tries to milk about double that out of any fans of their series. Rating: - Decent Beginnings for Star Trek: EnterpriseWhen television and science fiction critics have a chance to review recent science fiction television programming, I suspect that "Star Trek: Enterprise" will earn finally some praise as one of the better American science fiction television series ever aired. Indeed, I suspect that this series will garner more respect and praise from critics than "Star Trek: Voyager"; the latter is quite simply the worst "Star Trek" series ever produced, since the quality of both its writing and acting was often far behind the best from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". At least "Star Trek: Enterprise" tried to tell how humanity finally emerged from the Solar System, without relying upon Vulcan "benevolent" guidance, offering some compelling episodes as well as an excellent series cast. But clearly, the writing of "Star Trek: Enterprise" often fell far behind the best I had seen from the first two sequel "Star Trek" series. For example, I agree with others who are surprised how the Vulcans were portrayed often in a less than flattering light in this series, behaving more like their distant Romulan kin, than as pacific, logical folk like Spock. And frankly, I was far from impressed with the Suliban/Temporal War series arc which finally petered out by the third season. Still, despite these reservations, I suspect that many "Star Trek" fans will purchase this season DVD set. I found the main characters quite likeable and interesting, most notably the dramatic trio of Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula), Chief Engineer Charles "Trip" Tucker (Conor Trinneer) and Sub-Commander T'Pol (Jolene Blalock). Without question, they most closely resembled The Original Series's Captain Kirk, Spock and Dr. McCoy, in their personalities and personal relationships. The Denobulan Dr. Phlox (John Billingsley) was yet another fascinating character too, who became the center of several superb episodes of "Star Trek: Enterprise". "Star Trek: Enterprise" began on a promising note with "Broken Bow", introducing the Klingons to humanity, and setting the stage for further diplomatic conflict between Vulcan and Earth. One of the first season's finest episodes was "Shadows of P'Jem" in which Archer must contend with Vulcan duplicity and offer assistance to the Andorians, almost singlehandedly defusing a tense diplomatic conflict between both alien civlizations. This episode benefited from excellent acting from several guest stars, most notably Jeffrey Combs as the Andorian commander Shraan. Another favorite episode of mine was "Dear Doctor" which featured a stellar performance from John Billingsley. Rating: - THE BEST BUT PEOPLE KILL IT!I LOVE THE STAR TREK SHOW FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. I HATED THAT IT'S OVER BECAUSE OF THE NETWORK AND I CAN'T BELIVE IT! STAR TREK FANS. THE SHOW WAS GRAET. IT TIE UP LOSE ENDS IN THE STAR TREK TIMELINE. SCOTT BAKULA WAS THE BEST. IF YOU A TREW FAN OF STAR TREK, NOT THE FANS WHO KILLED STAR TREK! YOU MUST HAVE THIS FOR YOU STAR TREK DVDS. I SEEN STAR TREK FOR 16 YEARS I'VE SEEN ALL STAR TREK. IT MAY BE DEAD BUT TO ME IT WILL LIVE FOREVER! Rating: - Another Series Cancelled Before Its TimeBeing a hardcore Star Trek fan since 2002, not as long as some of you, I was sorely disappointed when I found out I don't have UPN or no other channel that carried Enterprise, still don't. But salvation came when this DVD was released. I could finally see Enterprise and I have to agree with a lot of fans, this series was cancelled way before it's time. Star Trek Enterprise is a very interesting series that deals with how everything came into being, the first episode "Broken Bow" alone introduced how the transporter beamed its first person aboard a ship. The story is a refreshing throw back to the TOS era, seeing the return of some of the classic TOS props, but with a more updated look. To describe it, this is like TOS with a DS9 storyline. Very dark storyline with a few casual jokes thrown in, but when they do have jokes, they are hilarious! Watch Malcolm's fantasy about T'Pol on the episode "Shuttlepod One" for a great example, it is hilarious! The actors fit perfectly into their characters. Scott is Archer, Connor is Trip! They fit in so perfectly into their characters; I couldn't picture anyone else that could be cast in the role. Overall, this collection lived up to everything I hoped it would be, another great series that I can say that was definitely cancelled before it's time, and I heard it only gets better. After watching Season One, Star Trek Enterprise has become my favorite Trek series. I sincerely can't wait until Season 2 comes out in a few weeks! Bravo Star Trek, you still haven't lost your touch-no matter if you are for at the moment not with us. Rating: - Under rated.......I think that there is way too much pessimism concerning Enterprise. I recently bought this set and thouroughly enjoyed it. (I never had payed attention to it when it aired on TV). I love Scott Bakula and really enjoy the relationship between Archer and Trip (reminds me of Kirk and Bones). I really like the whole concept of the temporal cold war, I think think that they could have made a whole other Trek series with the concept. I enjoy some of the stories, for example, Strange New World is cool because Trip starts to "trip out" when he is under the influence of psychotropic chemicals. I also love the scene when Trip and Malcolm are in a club on Risa looking for ladies (other Treks didn't portray a couple of guys on shoreleave). I agree with another customer who wrote that the next series should have a fresh start with new writers. I know that there are plenty of Trekkers out there who would love to give new ideas on a series and plot lines.....have we explored Section 31 to its fullest potential? Anyways, I think Trek should take a little break and come back strong with some new talent and get some more publicity.
