- Well designed all around document machineI brought this for my parents who don't have a computer or need a fax, they just wanted a copier. I set it up and they have been using it daily for several months and made at least a thousand copies. No problems, the imaging is good and the ink lasts (they changed the cartridge once). From that I can recommend it as a copy machine. Rating: - Amazing PrinterI bought this product 3 months ago and have been using it ever since. It is absolutely amazing because it works flawlessly; prints pretty fast, copies are clear; faxes well (I have sent faxes but have not received any - need to read the instructions on how to receive them b/c they were not coming through - I think it was b/c I had to program my home phone # to the machine or something) and the scanner is descent (scans the images pretty clearly). I researched for quite a long time for a laserjet printer and this one to me is the best choice in terms of price (Under $200); printing capability (approx 2,500 pages per cartridge) and the cartridges are relatively cheap $70.00 as opposed to other ones that are over $100.00. I really don't care for color so this machine is perfect for me. I use it for my studying and home office and it has helped me a great deal thus far. In terms of setting it up; I don't even remember that much b/c it was so easy. I took it out of the box, plugged into the A/C outlet, connected the USB cable it brings to my Dell laptop and that's it. The only thing that I do have to warn though is that the USB cable it brings is very short (approx 3 feet long); so I bought a longer one like 10 feet which is more than enough. Finally, it was great that the cartridge was included b/c that saved me $70.00. And if you think about it, minus the price of the cartridge the printer comes out to a little over $100.00 and you are getting a laser printer as opposed to an inkjet whose ink runs out much faster and the cartridges become more expensive since you have to replace them so much more often. Ok, that's all. Good luck. Rating: - Great "all in one" for the priceSo far, so good. The quality of print output is very nice. The only kerfuffle I had was initializing the unit with my laptop -- because I am running Windows Vista 64-bit with 4Gig RAM. The disks that come with the unit are not compatible with 64-bit Vista. So, I went to Canon Customer Service. The guy there was quite proficient and very helpful. We found a download on the Canon site, but it wasn't a user-friendly download. There were some clunky steps to go thru once it was imported (not good for the layperson like me to go it alone) -- but, with his help, we got it going and I'm very happy. Otherwise, 5-stars. Rating: - Impressive for price...This unit was offered as a Lightning Deal for around $165 with free shipping. I'd been thinking of a laser printer after several years of messing about with various inexpensive inkjet printers, deciding that most of my printing needs are, indeed, satisfied by B&W. The fact that this unit has additional functionality was a bonus. Ordered it on a Monday; it arrived on Friday, speedy even with the free shipping. Heck, anytime you can get 44 pounds shipped for free, that adds value. Another review indicated that the toner cartridge should last for 2500 sheets -- apparently the one that came with the machine is actually rated at 4200...another value-add. Easy setup -- within minutes we were printing from three workstations at home. Extremely fast response. Copier works great, too. We haven't tried faxing yet and, yes...the scanning function needs to be connected via USB, rather than networked -- which is why I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5. Also, it does not come with an Ethernet cable, so that was an additional, albeit minor, expense. To recap: $165. No tax in my state. Free shipping. Quick delivery. Easy setup. Works swell. I'm a happy camper. Rating: - Good price on a nice machineI bought this and found it easy to install as well as use. My kids like it and so do I. The price is a steal!
