Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Everyone needs this Foreman grill!
We used to have the gigantic Forman grill...the biggest I have ever seen. I loved being able to just throw some pork chops or chicken breasts on it for a pretty quick and healthy dinner but I hated cleaning it. It was so big and heavy and without removable plates it was really a pain. When we moved we gave it away thinking that we would just buy a new one. It has taken almost a year but I finally broke down and bought this one. It's the new biggest one that I can find (and it's much smaller than the old one) but it has removable plates which is really what I wanted. I use it about 3 times a week and love it! The new design was really well thought out with the ability to adjust the temperature as well as a knob to make it sit level for those things you would cook that you don't want pouring out the bottom. It comes with waffle plates, grill plates, and a deeper flat plate that you can bake with (haven't tried that yet). The plates are very easy to put on and take off and I just stick them in the dishwasher when they are dirty. This grill would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation in the past.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Huge disappointment
This is my second foreman, the first one I used so much, the nonstick coating wore off, so it was time to upgrade. I figured the one thing the traditional Foreman needed was removable grill plates to make it easier to clean - and wow they made it. BUT, here is the problem - 90% of the use comes from cooking chicken or hamburgers... on the basic grill plates. In the G5, they replaced the standard top grill plate with some highly textured design which makes the food look very pretty, but it is a nightmare to clean. No matter what you cook, it gets stuck in the little corners and either you accept it as flavoring the next time you cook, or you spend an inordinate amount of time scrubbing one little piece. -Hence my title "Huge disappointment". They came so close to a great product, but it is such a pain to use, I find that it typically gets stuck in the back of the closet with the other misfit appliances.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - mixed feelings
This is my second Geoge Foreman grill. The first was the small, sandwich size, which I loved. I thought I wanted a larger one that also made waffles. This grill makes great waffles and that's all I use it for. I have a lazy streak in me and I can't see washing 2 pans (top and lower) grill plates when I could use a regular skillet and wash just one. Then there are all the other removable grill plates that are in the back of my cabinet someplace. The grill does what it's supposed to, but I question how many people actually use all of these attachments. Perhaps it might be good for a dorm, where cooking facilities might be limited.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Well worth the price!
Had an older Foreman grill which I liked but hated to clean. This is sooo easy to clean. The plates snap in and out easily. The only thing is the top grill plate can be difficult to clean because of the shape of the grill marks, but I bought a cheap soft bristle toothbrush and it works great. Love the the temperature control. Love the baking plate, have made "fried over easy" eggs using only a small amount of non-stick spray.....you don't have to flip the eggs as they cook from the top......have baked a pizza in it......can't say enough good about it. I love that dinner is done in less than 15 minutes and clean up is less than 5!! Have used it every single night since we've had it and haven't tired of it. The instruction manual isn't worth much, neither are the recipes, but with a little creativity there is no limit! Would, and have, recommended the purchase. Well worth the price in my opinion.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Shoddy, fragile handles that break like glass and unavailable replacement handles from manufacturer.
Overall this grill does a great job when grilling or any other cooking. What disappoints me terribly is the quality of the plastic handles on the grill plates and the service from the manufacturer when trying to get replacement handles. The handles break like thin glass and to my disappointment they DO NOT secure the grill plates into place with a nice secure, tight fit. Instead the fit is rather sloppy. Because of this sloppy fit my wife and I each watched plates fall out of place and saw the handles shatter like glass. The grill plates were not damaged, just the handles. We thought the plates were securely in place when they were not, so when we lifted the top of grill by its main handle to see if our food was done, the grill plates fell out and the handles on grill plates shattered to pieces. The handles are very cheap and definitely NOT impact resistant. I contacted the manufacturer to get replacement handles and was informed that I could not purchase replacement handles. However, I was told that I could purchase a replacement plate (which, of course has 2 handles that can be removed). So, I purchased a replacement plate and whenever I break a handle, I replace it with a handle from the newest plate that I purchased. Isn't this just plain ridiculously stupid? But this is the only way I can get 2 new replacement handles. Of course, if I'm going to keep this grill any length of time, I just know and expect that these inferior handles will keep breaking over time. At some point I'm certain that the handles will become unavailable, rendering the grill useless and inoperable. The grill itself is made well, but when you make a good product but put cheap, easily breakable parts on it, it's like having a Mercedes automobile with a glass bumper on it. This is so typical of all products (especially import products from China, India, and other countries) we purchase today, unlike the American-made products that our parents bought in the 50's, 60's and 70's and kept for 25 or more years. They worked forever, but perhaps looked a little outdated.
