- Worth The PriceI found this updated version of the old "cooking light" program worth the price. It quickly analyzed any new recipe that was entered, however it took some time to figure out how to put a new recipe in. Would have been a great help to come with a pamphlet with quick start instructions. Once figured out, it is a great tool Rating: - Organize your cookingI've used various versions of this product for years, and it's great for storing and using your favorite recipes, creating shopping lists, etc. And now I've joined a Yahoo group of MC users who are extremely helpful in answering any questions you may have. Rating: - MasterCook DeluxeThis is a good program for the professional and the non pro. It offers many fun and interesting recipies as well as tips Rating: - More difficult navigation than MC2This was to be an upgrade from Master Cook II, because I got a new computer with Vista. The basic program contains more recipes, but the navigation is not at all intuitive. I'm having trouble transferring MC2 files to the personal recipes cookbook as well. I guess this is to be expected with the upgrade??? to Vista. Rating: - Doesn't perform as promisedI've been struggling with Mastercook for months and I've given up. I've had problems with most of its features, but I'm most aggravated with the Shopping List and Web Import functions. Both have worked sporadically, and for no apparent reason at any given time, will stop working at all. The shopping list function does not combine ingredients like it says it will. it says in the tutorial it will combine things like "green peppers" and "green bell peppers" but it doesn't. so i have to go in and change everything like that..."black pepper" to "pepper", "garlic" to "garlic cloves", etc. i even had an instance where i had "onions" twice on the list, but they didn't combine. other things did, though. again, no rhyme or reason to why it works some of the time. I've had problems with the web import bar as well, sometimes performing the way its supposed to and other times it wouldn't. Now it's not importing at all. I get all the way to clicking on "save to mastercook" and it just stops, without actually giving me the option to choose a cookbook and completing the import. I've sent several e-mails to Valu Soft and they've always responded with suggestions (which I've taken), but nothing has worked. I'm sending them another e-mail today to tell them I can't spend any more time trying to fix the problems (how many times should i have to uninstall/reinstall?) and will ask for a refund.
