- Good ProductSo far it has lived up to expectations. Text to speech was one of the main features we wanted and it works great! One thing that does concern me is that when in map mode it doesn't call the cross street until you are past it even at 25 mph. Rating: - what am i missing here? It's better than nothing. I can't believe the unconditional love this thing is getting. This is our first GPS so maybe it is better than others, but here are the complaints. Routes it provides are often not smart. For example we went to an outlet mall west of Philadelphia and it took us off the highway and led us down backstreets for several miles before getting us to the destination. However I later learned that if we had simply gotten off the highway one exit later, the mall was right there. When searching by business name, it has led us to addresses with a glorious checkered flag flourish. Only problem is you get there, look around, and the businesses are not there. E.g. Home Depot and Lowe's recently come to mind. Instead we had to drive up and down several streets for a few miles around to find it. So it got us close but not to the destination. Yes, we have updated to the 2009 maps. Screen is hard to see on a sunny day. Provides inadequate notice you have a turn coming up. It might say "Turn right on main, then turn left". And you go down 3 miles on Main at 40 mph and all of a sudden it says "turn left on elm" and you are zooming past it. how about a little notice? I know the video map could help, but i could also be looking at a printed road atlas and get the same kind of help. Besides, I'm trying to drive safely, sometimes in heavy traffic, and sometimes after a few minutes you get distracted. Not too much to ask I think. Too easy to hit other buttons when typing in addresses. you also have to spell things exactly for it to find business names for example. Nordstrom not nordstrum or nostradameus. Very unforgiving. Takes a long time to find satellites. Often when i start the device in our driveway it will take 5 minutes. I would be happy to spend more if the higher end devices had better routing ability and a little more polish. Can someone who has tried higher-end models tell me if they do their jobs better? Or are we simply at the current limits of the technology. Thanks. Rating: - Great for Geo-Wining, but can I GeoCache?I love my Garmin GPS. Recently, we grabbed an Ohio Wine booklet and input addresses one-by-one as they fell between our mini-vacation location and home. It worked great. But now I've gone on the Geo-caching website and found a coordinate location to search near my home...but I haven't found a way to input coordinates. Only addresses. So, having this for only 3 weeks, I guess I'll have to break down and go online to read the manual--which does NOT come hardcopy with the unit. Also, the mapping is not always the most accurate. At one pt. near my home local Rt680 turns into Rt80 for about 3.5 miles before turning into the turnpike Rt80. But Miss Gypsy, as I call the female voice of the GPS, always calls that 3.5 miles Rt680, when 680 has actually ended. Good thing it's local and I know where I'm at. Many other directions I've gotten since using this have been RIGHT ON! I do love it, in spite of the few things mentioned here. Good Audio, Good video except in direct sunlight. Enjoy! Rating: - The best for the money . . .never get lost . . .I have known people who owned this, and when I was relocated to another town far away from my familiar surroundings, the first thing that came to mind was to buy this. I never get lost and if I do make a wrong turn (because I'm not following what it's telling me to do), it will redirect me. Amazon had the lowest price for this item that I found when I was researching where to buy it, and now I have advertised it to others who want to buy it. I feel a new level of confidence when I go to a new town or big city, and since I can always find my way around, it takes less time to find things than getting lost and driving for a while to look for certain destinations. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who was looking for a small and convenient GPS system. Rating: - Great product at a great priceNuvi 350 works as promised. Have taken all over U.S. and it works great. I think this model is discontinued but if you can still get it at $199, it is a bargain.
