- biggest let down of the yearPeople are saying star trek is dead- this game maybe the final nail in the coffin- To start out in the game you fly the enterprise from the failed tv show- the mission is to find a vulcan ship- which gives you a feel for the game- Instead of being on a set level in space- you can go up or down side to side- which is ok- but you first start to notice the strange controls for the mouse as it is your camera control- and soon becomes annoying to have to worry about what is around you as you try to get to a good camera angle- then you get to a planet- and not 5 mins in the game you are up against - 3 romulan birds of prey- Once you kill one- the others run and you go on to find this vulcan ship- and proceed with the mission- and before that- you find another ship in trouble- you save the ship ( which is federation) and NOW your required to command another ship and yours at the same time- so about 15 mins into the game- you are manning your ship- another ship- defending a vulcan ship then defending a space station- In my opinion it is a over kill- and it gets boring quick- the game's story moves slowly-and isn't really interesting- the last mission I played was- When a sickness breaks out- you are required to make a fleet of ships- and go and defend all these medical ships that you don't even control but have to defend- then go and take out a romulan station- they should of called this game- a cheap rip off of starfleet battles- you never get the feel of a real star trek universe- only some sort of inter galaxy war- which star trek wasn't written and filmed about - Sure there were some fighting- but I would of rather seen a game where you had missions and stories- and a few battles- and infact made you wish there were more battles- but this game will burn you out quick- having to command 3 ships at the same time- taking on countless romulan enemies- and not really going anywhere in the first hour of play- Besides those problems there are others- the game graphics are the worst I have seen in a long time- the lag on the game is worst with alot of ships in space- and also- the game always had you taking on 6 ships at a time- so? In the skirmish part of the game- you can choose from a very few amount of ships- not many at all- and then you choose your ship= but you can't choose your enemy ship- The Last problem I had- was that star trek legacy didn't want to get off my PC - I had to manually delete the files- and that is not good- it looks like they rushed this game out. TO GET THE BIGGEST LET DOWN AWARD OF THE YEAR. I hate this game- and will make sure to not buy another game from the same makers- starfleet command 3 is still superior to this game in all ways- Rating: - Things that need to be patchedI learned to play the game by changing the config so that the speed is faster and I take 1% of damage. I'm just playing the missions again with the normal parameters and it's actually not that bad. The gripes people have (e.g. crappy controls and impossible to follow directions because of poor porting from Xbox) are true, but here's what they need to fix for the 1.5 patch: 1. Real directions for how to target subsystems (remember Bridge Commander?) 2. More missions that make sense (do you want me to destroy the biotoxin carrier or disable its engines??) 3. More missions, period. In fact I would not pay money to buy an improved version of the game unless they give me 15 more missions. 4. Realistic explosions and fix those damn graphics errors! 5. More multiplayer options (take a hint from Bridge Commander again, which is an infinitely better game) and modes (how about some planets to take over) 6. More reaction when you try to change the y axis (right now it takes 10 secs to tilt all the way up or down)--or just make it a 2-d game! 7. Auto-repair needs to be an option (telling all 4 of my ships one by one to repair takes at least a minute) 8. When I say warp, please warp (not after I press the R mouse button 3 or 4 times) 9. Some warning when I'm getting close to a nebula would help (right now I can't tell unless I'm already in it) 10. Tractor beams in combat can be useful (especially if I'm targeting a smaller ship) Rating: - What Happened??!What Happened??!! I thought Star Trek Legacy was going to be the Star Trek answer to Star Wars Galaxies?! Ok...I read the box before I bought it, so I knew it wasn't going to be the same kind of game play. Well, I thought I would give it a chance. The game play itself is pretty smooth, but it's the setup and ship selection screens that are terrible. Move the mouse and the cursor just sits there. It's maddening! I took the game back to "Best 'Worst Customer Service' Buy", and got my money back...after much brow beating! Rating: - There Is Still HopeThe game may not be 100% perfect, but there is still hope for the future of this game. Bugged or not, you can still have a very good experience playing this game. Die hard trekkies this a must have, the graphics are truely spectacular compared to the last set of Trek games to come out. The combat is realistic (the biggest ship DOESNT always win, learn how to play the game...). Yes, the controls are terrible (unless ofcourse you have the 360 controller; praise.) The subsystems are easy once you get a hang on it. Don't just play the game for 20 minutes and then give up because you can't get it work. Patients young grasshoper. The bottom line is...Don't buy this....wait. Wait for the patch or two to come out. Bethsoft is risking hurting their PC reputation here, and I don't think they will stand for that considering they just broke into Trek gaming and plan to produce more later. I believe they will fix this game. And when they do, it will be the game we were all promised. Don't judge to quickly, yes the initial release was weak, BUT, I have enjoyed hours of gaming with with no end in sight, the patches will only make it better. Rating: - Poor Graphics and Game PlayGraphics are not as good as promoted. I should have expected since the only pictures I saw were art work and not game enviroment. All I can say to the developers and team that made it is take some pride in your work. I was think of upgrading my computer even more to see if that might improve my game play but after reading these reviews I have declined. The team and management developing this game have handed off another dissapointment to the startrek community.
