 - Somewhat EntertainingI read some of the reviews and agree that the music could have been better. Some of the levels are extremely difficult (in my opinion). But they are doable. Rating:  - Game didn't work wellThe game froze up all the time. All of my other games on PS2 work just fine. Rating: - bad game, wait for the next star trek gameMany review sites rate this game as a "licensed failure". That is my opinion as well. The game fails at so many levels, it is not worth the bandwidth wasted to attempt to even somewhat glorify this game as fun. The gameplay itself is either very boring or extreamly frustrating. With the horrible ship navigation you would think they would stick to one-plane navigation. You will get carpal tunnel from all the buttons you have to hold down and the fact the some objects are either above or below you ship to give some 3D depth to the game, doesn't work because of the horible control scheme. I got to the third episode and am sick of it already. It is hard to destroy 20 ships coming at you from all angles and aiming with the right analog and steering with the left analog. Then you have to cycle weapons with the x button and fire with R1. If a ship is above or below you you have to hold L1 to go higher or l2 to go lower. But the cruisers seem to roam whereever they feel like and you have to attempt to fire while they still on your 3D plane. Annoying at best. Game is worth about $2.50 and that is only for the 2 player skirmish mode. Rating: - Trekkie FanThis game reminds me a lot of the old arcade games I use too play when I was 10 year old (back in the 80's) it's reminds me of good old Asteroid Game from back then. Except the ship & stars are better looking in this game and you have William Shattner telling you the story before you began. But basically same concept you fly through space blowing up other ships and flying around asteroids. It is not a hard game at all, just takes time to get the controls down. Hint when you have to guard a space station lay all your mines down & move off screen and they will wipe out half your enemies and you'll finish the level more quickly. This game would have been more fun; when you increase your engine speed kirk would say "I need more powers Scotty" but it doesn't there is No talking during the game just the same SONG over and over and it's not even the star trek theme song so my best tip turn off the volume. It is a very basic game, even boring at some times doing levels over and over to beat the clock, but if you're a star trek fan (and an old arcade player from the 80's) I think you'll enjoy this game for the price!! Rating:  - ARCADE STYLE, FAST ACTION!, Trek GamePlay this game at the start with ONSLAUGHT mode single player, and score above 500,000 points. Even though you'll only have the NX-01 Enterprise, it can be done. When it's time to put your name, put in "4jstudios" in lowercase, all ships and all mission levels will be unlocked, score one more time above 500,000 points, (pick voyager ship, fastest, small, long firing phasers) and when you enter your name a second time put "bethesda" this will give you all the character cards for ship powerups. Then you can play any level and any ship, without having to do the missions, (which some are tough). The secret to this game is to remember to use your L1 and L2 buttons which raise and lower your ship while fighting this makes it harder for enemies to lock on to you while you can lock on to them. Use your phasers to detonate the torpedoes that come at you, collect the "energy"powerups to last longer in battle. You can PLAY CO-OP with a buddy. Use "4jstudios" and "bethesda" in LOWERCASE, I tried capital letters like the "net" sites show but it doesn't work. For arcade style action shoot 'em up game with a star trek theme this is a great game esp using the 2 codes to easily unlock everything for only $14.99. Sometimes the music gets irritating so put on a cd of something you like. ("star trek cd with a battle song works well!") This game doesn't have horrible glitches, it runs smoothly, only on a mission or two, was the camera angle a problem and you can manuever your ship a little and then it's ok again. If you can play Super Smash Melee type games etc, then you can play this game. I am a casual ordinary player, and always wanted a fun trek game, and esp with the 2 codes, I am amazed how much fun I'm having with this 2d top down view game, that has a limited 3d by using the all important L1 & L2 buttons for up and down. The secret to the chase mission "rings" is to fly using L1 or L2 flying high or low and hitting the rings at 10 o'clock or 2 0'clock positions.
