- Fun game, with excellent graphics; however, lacks an engaging story.First of all this game is a lot of fun and the graphics are stunning, not to the full capability of the PS3 but the system has only been out for a year...I would be disappointed if the graphical capability was maxed out already. Many have reported glitches however I have had no problems as far as that goes. The controls are much improved over previous versions of the game, the new driving controls are different and require some getting used to but I like them as they allow you more control once you've mastered them. The combat is much improved, it is easy to move and aim. The cover system allows you to slide quickly to cover that isn't close by, and keeping Niko in free aim keeps the camera over your shoulder making it much easier to maneuver tight spaces and combat situations. The games story falls flat, it is decent but not great, and is the only reason this game is not perfect. Everything starts out well, the characters are well developed and detail and you feel like you can really relate to Niko, but somewhere in the middle alot of the more interesting characters stories come to a dead end and the story gets dull. The mission begin to get really repetitive and you could careless if you complete the game. The game is undeniably worth the money, but compared to the story of San Adreas...this game doesn't compare. Pros: Great graphics, huge amount of detail, large area to explore, fun to cause mayhem, large variety of vehicles, interesting new features (combat, cellphone, relationship which while not required can give you great benefits, improved driving/racing), bank robbery mission, and many more. Cons: Missions get repetitive, story starts out amazing...finishes flat, money is worthless except for guns and taxi, no properties to buy I would recommend anyone with a PS3 buy this game..its definitely worth 50$...anyone who says otherwise is just mad because the game was a little over-hyped and didn't meet every single expectation they had, or they wanted another game just like San Andreas and they loved the horrible controls and cartoony graphics. Rating: - Seriously Disappointed GTA fanI've been waiting for this game to come out since I beat San Andreas the third time so I tried really hard to like this game but now that I've beat it I have no desire what-so-ever to play it every again. The missions are repetitive and long. Too many of them consist of: take vehicle, drive to point a, follow person through scripted traffic to unmarked point b, kill person. It would be fine if I could actually kill them, but no amount of bullets will bring the mission to an end early, leading to pointless busy work. There is a limited number of safe houses, and no properties to buy like in Vice City and San Andreas. The map is large but you the number of cars you can safe is severely limited by this. Many of the past side quests that resulted in unlocking weapons give you none. Dying and visiting the hospital is insanely expensive making random rampages painful. If I wasn't a collector, I would sell this thing. I cannot in good conscious suggest this game to anyone but a GTA completist. Rating: - Better graphics, same gamePretty much the same free roam game we've grown used too since GTA 3, Gets repetitive after a while and the shock value has long run out. Needs more new content, this game did not live up to the hype. Rating: - Fun for about a weekLet me start by saying that if it were not for all the ridiculous perfect 5 star reviews this game has gotten, that my real judgement on GTA IV would be closer to 3 stars rather than 1, however in the interest of fairness, I had to rate it 1 to counter all the biased positive reviews written by gamers who are just quoting what they read in a magazine review. GTA IV falls incredibly short of what it was hyped to be, and indeed, what it could have been had its developers not rushed to get it out of the door too quickly. I won't comment on all the glitches people are reporting because I haven't experienced any, but I will comment on the game's short comings in the way of mission variety, lack of side missions seen in previous series installments, and a general lack of fun as the game progresses. GTA IV starts off strong with an interesting storyline that ultimately falters somewhere half way through when some of the most interesting characters you're introduced to don't get their just deserves and the story seems to turn into a rush job to finish rather than having any kind of really satisfying conclusion. Reviewers and game designers have given players the false idea that the story is open ended and concludes based on choices that the player makes throughout the game's course. This is simply not true as no matter what you do, you're going to be presented with only one of two choices toward the game's end that will decide how the story wraps up. Even then, there's not much difference between the two endings to even warrant saying that you have much of a choice. While there are a few incredibly fun and satisfying mission over the course of the game, there just isn't enough, certainly not as many as you had to choose from in San Andreas. Also, there is not enough variety of good music on the radio stations and the looped conversations get old fast and become more annoying than funny. I'm not asking for the sky, but I feel the game's designers and anyone who isn't under the age of 18 (who shouldn't being playing this title anyway) would agree if they were honest with themselves that this game was a rush job and could have been far better than what we ended up getting. No wonder it got so much hype... word of advice to prospective buyers, any time a game gets as much hype as GTA IV got, it's a pretty good rule of thumb to think twice before buying something that's over compensating for a major short-coming. You're better off spending your $60 on something that's worth the price like Metal Gear Solid 4. Rating: - Boring...I rented this game to try it out first. Played about 6-7 hours then returned it and have no regret, no desire to play it again. Unlike game reviewers who review games from multiple perspective, I play game solely for one reason: to have fun. And this game is not fun. First few hours were interesting, but soon after it got very repetitive and shooting controls were bad imop.
