- Great home additionWe got this item for a few reasons: 1. scanner for the kids' artwork 2. duplex copy/print capability 3. rare fax use So far we have used it for reasons (1) and (2) and it has worked very well. It was incredibly easy to set up the unit, "quick start" guide is easy to follow. Scanning software has also worked well. We've scanned directly to both PDF and JPG files using the ADF without any trouble. Color seems to be good on the images. Copier/print capabilities work as expected. Would definitely buy this product again! Rating: - So Far So GoodMy wife and I decided to switch from a Lexmark X1100 all in one printer which has served us well for a number of years. The only issue was the ink. I guess it was the 'use it or lose it' principle. We do not print very often and I tired of purchasing a new ink cartridge only for a few printouts. I tried so many tricks try to conserve the ink, but in the end the cartridges always dried out. I even tried refilling the ink myself, that was successful, but I soon tired of that as well. We analyzed exactly how much color printing we do at home. We do not print out photos on our printer. It is much cheaper and easier to use Shutterfly, Snapfish, Target, etc. to print out pictures. Just upload and they are delivered to the house. Also when we really thought about it we did not need to print color copies. After careful review, we chose this Canon MF4150. It arrived quickly and we have had no issues with it. We have used it for double sided printing, b/w copies and scanning in magazines and old photos. It starts up quickly and prints a lot faster than my old x1100. The best part is since we may still print infrequently, we do not have to worry if the ink nozzles are clogged. Just hit the print button, the printer fires up, and out comes the document. This printer has all of the features we were looking for, including duplex printing to save paper. Rating: - great machine--great priceI needed a new copier/printer for my small business. I had a canon previously and was searching for a machine that could use my existing toner cartridge. After seeing this copier/printer I decided to try it even though it did not have the same cartridge. The price was worth the risk. I have had it a month with no problems. The starter cartridge that comes with machine is still being used. I did order another to have on hand. Great choice!! Rating: - Buy a PC already.Have you noticed how for many great products, the only negative comments come from Mac users who can't get it to work with their overpriced and underpowered computers? And yet it's Windows that's supposedly so inferior? Anyway, this is a terrific machine for the money, and being able to have access to equipment like this is part of the reason I put up with Windows (and I am a determined Vista-avoider for the same reason I have no interest in a Mac). Printing is plenty fast for SOHO use. First page is 10-12 seconds when you're running out the door. The duplexer actually works -- though it's too slow for high volume. And the sheet feeder actually works! Just a sheet fed scanner this good could cost $300 or $400. The Canon drivers and software (for XP, anyway) are reliable and powerful. The killer feature, to me, is that I can put a stack of paper documents in the sheet feeder, push one button, and a multipage pdf lands on my (Windows) desktop. That by itself makes my day at tax time. SOHO folks can use this to scan receipts and other paperwork and eliminate a lot of paper filing. There's really nothing not to like. Typical great Canon performance and reliable for us after six months. Rating: - Excellent choice for the money Excellent for college bound student or for home use. I gave up on inkjet printers because of their tendency to dry up. I use printer for home use that does not require much activity but like to have the capability when needed for copying, faxing or printing. It was easy to set up and hope that it will work through out my schooling for PhD.
