Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good for music, useless for podcasts
I bought this Nano to primarily listen to podcasts. When you listen to podcasts you usually, but not always, want to delete them after listening to them either in full or part way through if the podcast is not worth listening to.

The problem is that their isn't a way to delete the podcast tracks until you connect the Nano to a PC. It's an unbelievably bad omission. Here are the problems -

If you listen to the entire track, it will replace it with a later podcast in the series. But if you only listen to a piece of it, for some reason it doesn't.

And, even worse, if you haven't listened to it when the next podcast in the series comes out, it will still delete it without you having heard a word!

And here's the worst point... let's say that if you have 20 podcasts on the Nano, the listened to podcast is still available for listening, so if you jump around from track to track, you'll keep stumbling over the same podcast until you connect it to a PC.

Apple should have built in a single button delete, so if you hold a button down for a while while a track is playing it will DELETE it and start playing the next.

What was Apple thinking when they designed it? No much.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Great iPod for Someone With a Medium Sized Music Collection
The 3rd Generation iPod Nano is my third iPod--my first one was a 4G iPod Classic (20GB) and then I got a 2G 2GB iPod shuffle. I have had the 3G iPod Nano for about a year and I love it--I recently got an iPhone 3G but I'm still carrying around my Nano because it does one thing really well--it is an excellent mp3 player. The Nano is small, lightweight, and easy to hold in my hand. It is not too bulky to slip into my pocket on the go like my iPhone or my previous iPod classic is. It's also nice that it has a screen (unlike the shuffle) which makes it easier to select music to listen to. And it's perfect for someone with a medium sized music collection like me--I can still carry around most of my music without having to worry about running out of space.

I would not recommend the Nano for video viewing or games, because its screen is very small and hard to see. I don't find the click wheel a very satisfying controller for games--the touch screen on an iPod Touch or and iPhone is much more satisfying. But as a music player the Nano is great--I hope to be carrying mine well into the future.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - iPod purchase
I got this for my boss. She is very happy with the quality, shipping and price. Thank you!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Well, don't I feel duped...
Good enough mp3 player. Everyone else has covered everything. I know this is probably being posted in the wrong place BUT ANYWAYS...

Here's the reason for two stars: Poo Poo on Apple!

I bought the ipod nano 3g 8GB ONE MONTH AGO AND NOW THE PRICE HAS DROPPED 50 DOLLARS! Why? Because they have a new generation of nano out! Wow, don't I feel like a moron! I should have known better (I do take some of the blame). Now I can see what some people have been saying about Apple, Steve Jobs, and love of profits over customer satisfaction. What a crock of feces! I consider it a lesson learned. The next time I will buy from a different company whenever this thing decides to quit on me. Please go with another company so you don't get gouged, too!
