Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Way better than a Cobra
I drive on a daily basis around 20-30 miles a day round trip from work to getting lunch out to back home. Unfortunately for me I go through a good 3-4 small cities and towns where the cops have nothing to do but run radar all day and hand out tickets like they're prizes. Nothing but 35 mph almost the whole way.

One area where I particularly love this detector is in the hills and curves. One of the areas I drive is all along lakes and is nothing but 2 lane roads. The other day I had a KA POP at about 7 strength hit at a good 1-2 miles from where the cop was in the hills and curves along the lake. About 3/4 of a mile later a KA band at 8 strength, and finally about 1/4 of a mile from the radar gun another KA POP at 9 strength. Sure enough, cop running radar at oncoming traffic. Proved itself well again the next day when there were 2 of them running radar again while another had a Corvette pulled.

Through my daily route I've basically figured out where falses are. I've already killed X band since there's no point in running it unless you want to find automatic doors. I guess some security systems run K band and a few cop cars still run K band, so I've adjusted to knowing where all the K band falses are coming from stores.

So far this thing has made some good saves along my daily route to work. picks up Ka band easily. The Ka POP works excellently and has saved me quite a few times. Its Highway mode as well works pretty good and grabs cops at a good few miles range.

Overall I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't feel like spending $500 towards a detector and that doesn't go 30 over on a daily basis. My lead foot usually gets me 10-15 over in some areas, so this was definitely a good investment. Already paid for itself.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Mixed Feelings
I have owned this product for about 3 months now and I still can't figure out if I like it or not. I haven't gotten an idea of how far out it will detect a radar/laser beam but I have noticed while rounding turns on the freeway it will pick up a beam before fully rounding it and seeing the cop. I had a ton of false alarms with POP turned on and lately I've been getting laser false alarms. I should have some time soon to contact Whistler about this and will update then. But other than that it has saved me on a few occasions, the LED "periscope" is a nice feature, as well as the talking feature. I have subs (500w Fosgate stage 2) in my trunk and I can still hear the detector over too. Overall I would recommend it to anyone.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Defective windshield lock
The detector works great with adequate range and it looks well made. I gave it 3 stars due to the locking mechanism for the windshield mount on the detector breaking after having it for 32 days. Amazon can't take it back and Whistler will not warranty it saying it was not bought from an authorized dealer. The will fix it but for cost plus shipping. Customer service has gone to hell in a handbasket in America. Buying online is getting less and less popular for me. Spend the extra money and get it locally if possible or at least from an authorized dealer. The dash pad does work ok but I would prefer to mount it high on the windshield.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Don't waste your time!!!
Cheep radar....you get what you pay for it!!
I was waiting in traffic and I passed by a state trouper and he was pointing the leaser gun on the incoming traffic and my radar didn't even blinked:-(
I sent my whistler pro 78 back the following day.....what a waste!!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best bang for your buck
Yes escort and valentine detectors are the best. But they are $300 and up. For those not willing to spend so much on a radar detector this is the best bang for your buck. High sensitivity.. lots of features. Spanks any cobra detector out there.
