- Headphones surpassed all expectationsAll I need to say is that the noise canceling on these headphones is very good. I could barely hear any noise or passengers when I'm using them on the bus. Sound quality is very excellent too, every single note is reproduced faithfully. I don't think you can do much better than this, its Bose quality without the price. Rating: - No more NOISY airplane rides - PLUS fantastic music on the computer!Honestly I thought all this "noise cancelling" headphones stuff was just pure HYPE - but NOT SO! Our first use of these amazing headphones came on the airplane (had a 3 leg trip about 12 hours total trip time). The plane didn't "seem" that noisy at first, but we thought, hey we bought them for the plane, let's see what they can do. Put them on and turned on the noise canceling feature - and WOW! We were truly amazed, and just to be sure of the difference, we'd take them away from our ears from time to time to see the change. The last leg of the trip was an American Airlines Eagle (puddle hopper" plane) - and it had a horrible roar. Even with these amazing headphones, it was still really annoying, but WAY worse without them. Fortunately that flight was only 45 minutes long. WELL worth the money spent, and when used with the music on the plane, SO MUCH better than the airplane headphones that you'll want to feel sorry for the poor sods who are using the airplane headphones! Then there's what they do for your music on the computer or portable devices!!! I can't recommend them enough. My ears and my sanity thank Audio-Technica. Rating: - Perfect for airline travelPurchased these headphones for long-distance air travel. They were great in cutting out most of the jet engine noise, while still allowing me to converse with my wife. Also good for watching the movies. I love the travel case with its pouch for storage of cord and adapter plugs. All very light weight and comfortable fit. I suppose cancelling 100% of undesirable noise is impossible since some noise vibrations enter the ear canal via jaw bones and skull. I will never fly again without these headphones. Great purchase and value. Rating: - Good for studyingNow, these headphones don't eliminate screaming from a 2-year old, but do a great job with eliminating TV noise and constant and consistent noise. Work wonderfully in airports, on a plane, in a crowded place. I bought them to help me study for nursing school with my three young children hanging around and having to sneak in studying while waiting during piano lessons, swim lessons, soccer practice, etc. The earphones are very comfortable for long wear. The only reason I don't give them a full 5 stars is how big they are, bulky. They're hard to carry around in your purse/backpack. But they do an excellent job for the price and were much more reasonable than their more expensive competitors. Rating: - Great headphones for the priceI previously owned a pair of Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro Earphones (Black) for just under a year. They were excellent in-ear monitors and were my favorite iPod accessory... until one of the monitors fell off and disappeared into non-existence. For a short while after losing my UEs, I resorted to using the generic-included iPod headphones. Absolutely horrible. As a person who works primarily in multimedia and film, audio quality is extremely important to me. I asked my boss what type of audio gear he preferred for our lab and personal use; he recommended Shure and Audio-Technica. Sounds good to me. With the Shure IEMs out of my budget, I ended up deciding on a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones. The first thing I noticed after pulling the headphones out of the aesthetically-pleasing box was the great fit of the earcups, which provided great isolation even with the noise-canceling feature off. They were very comfortable on my ears and very light on the head. Without the noise-canceling, you can hear a larger range of sounds if you are in a quiet room. For most places though (such as a crowded bus or subway), the passive sound will not be enough to hear the audio content. By flipping on the switch on the left earcup (40 hours on a single AAA battery), the noise-canceling feature is enabled and brings forth a nice, clear, even sound. It took a few weeks (a break-in period, I suppose) for the sound to come through nicely. Out of the box, they sounded okay, but it took a little while until I could hear the full potential of the headphones. The sound quality is pretty even from low to mids to high, probably a little stronger on the mids. Bass junkies may not appreciate this pair of cans due to its lack of heavy bass. For casual listeners and those looking for a great pair of headphones for a nice price, these will do just fine. Highly recommended.
