Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I'm selling mine right now.
I loved RE4 and I rushed to the store to buy Umbrella Chronicles. It turned out to be a "on rail" game. Well I still tried to play but after seeing "You are dead" so many times and actually just hitting "continue" just to make my way to the next "You are dead" message I gave up.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - What a shame...
This game is sad. It is an arcade shooter not and rpg, action adventure like many other Resident Evil games. This is the kinda game that you can play for 15-30 minutes and then get sick of, or run out of quarters. Albeit the wiimote works well on its own or with the zapper it just... kinda a crappy game. I'm glad i bought it at Gamestop used with 2 guns so and was able to return it all for cash.

tl;dr

Buy it at gamestop used and then return it.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - What happened?
I loved Resident Evil 4 for the PC, and I loved it even more for the Wii. In fact, I thought it was the best Wii game I'd played so far. Psyched about Umbrella Chronicles, I went out and got it right away, figuring that if nothing else it would be just more of the same (which wouldn't be bad, IMO).

Boy, was I wrong. This game is very nearly unplayable, period. The graphics are decent, but the gameplay is absolutely ridiculous. Ever play games like House Of The Dead at the arcade, where you get a plastic gun and just stand there, shooting things as they pop up on the screen? Well, Umbrella Chronicles is like that. It's like that to a T. Except instead of the plastic gun you get your Wiimote. You cannot move your character, cannot choose which doors to enter, which turns to take, or what strategy to apply to your enemies. You cannot do anything apart from shooting endless monsters that keep on jumping at you.

For me, exploration of the environment is one of the most important features of any videogame, be it FPS, adventure, simulation, you name it. What's behind this door? What lurks in the corridor beyond? Should I take the right or the left turn? It's what makes games fun. And I see no fun whatsoever in continuously shooting things without being able to explore. If you find that fun, then you'll love this game. If you're like me, spare yourself the pain. It doesn't deserve your time or your money.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - In my opinion this is strictly a two player game
I have had some serious fun playing this with my fiancee. In fact she usually ends up being the one to tell me to man up and get ready for a couple more hours of zombie killing. Which is something I never expected to happen when we got the Wii.
I think I would get bored really quick if I played this on my own though, it is nothing at all like the other RE games I've played in the past. The rail based shooting is awesome for a co-op game (no one fighting over which way to go or holding someone up by getting too far away) but there are many better games more similar to RE4 if you are on your own.
If you're looking for a fun, mindless shooting game to play with a friend then you'll probably do well with this one. If you're on your own you'd better really like rail based shooters if you plan on picking this up.
I'd also wait for the price to drop. It's fun, but not $50 worth of fun.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Barely playeable
I rented it because I wanted some game to play on the wii that would use a gun. This seems to the the only actual game choice that I could find. Pleas don't suggest that the crossbow practice is a game. I is barely playable and I wouldn't recommend it. I got the wii for my wife and so far there are no good games for it. I will see what old game cube game I can find and just forget the gun till someone bothers to make a real game.
