- Very Simple to UseRosetta Stone is very simple to use. However having a Spanish book, or obviously a native speaker to supplement the software would make it much more effective. This is because of being tossed directly into the language without a clear translation leaves the door open for some confusion. Overall a great interactive product that is a strong foundation to start learning a new langauge. Rating: - YOU NEED TO KNOW THISYou cannot legally sell this software when you are done with it. They threatened to sue me when I did - they said I had not bought the software, but a license for the software and it was nontransferrable - that I did not have the right to even GIVE it away. Rating: - Ingenius Language learning methodI wholeheartedly endorse Rosetta Stone. I have learned more in a month with this program than I did in years of Spanish classes. The total immersion method makes it easy and fun! Rating: - Excellent product to begin on the long road of learning a new language.I have really been trying hard to learn Spanish over the past 5 years. After purchasing Rosetta Stone, I feel like I've learned more in the last few weeks than in those last 5 years I have been studying. The layout and the structure of the way they teach you helps you retain the vocabulary (which some say is most important!) and Spanish language structure. If anyone is looking to learn a new language I would highly reccomend this product! Rating: - DO NOT BUY!My husband and I were both excited to try Rosetta Stone. I had six years of Spanish in school and my husband had never had any Spanish lessons. We were both frustrated and upset by our experiences. My husband was having a good time going through the first few lessons and felt he was doing well. I thought we would be able to have a few very simple conversations like "Hi, how are you?" "My name is...", but that isn't the way Rosetta Stone works. I quickly worked through several lessons and became amazed at how useless all the information was. If I was in Mexico and wanted to order food, make a hotel reservation, or just talk to a small child this software would not help. I went through lesson after lesson and was going over Geography and still hadn't seen anything about how to introduce myself, excuse myself or anything that would be of any use in a real life situation. Meanwhile, my husband became frustrated as the learning curve became vertical. He gave up when the lessons were too confusing and I have to say I didn't encourage him to keep trying because I felt it was pointless.
