Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Problems with Portfolio Tracking
I am a long time Quicken user and have been pretty happy with it until I was forced to upgrade to Quicken 2008 in order to be able to continue downloading my transactions. Since that point there have been major problems with the portfolio portion of the product. These include the online portfolio being unavailable entirely, quotes not being updated for days on end, stocks with one character symbols not working, etc. The problems have been going on for months and Quicken does not seem concerned about resolving them. Quicken is working fine as far as handling my checking account. If you're looking for something to track your investments though, I'd look elsewhere.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Quicken 2008
Quicken 2008 is exactly as advertised. I've installed it and it works great. I could not manage my operation without it. I'd gladly upgrade whenever that time might come because of my confidence in the product.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Don't upgrade from 2007-- not worth the money
I paid the $50.00 to upgrade from 2007 to 2008, and if I could go back again I would not pay 50 cents for it. It's pretty much the same thing with a few new features, all of which I fail to see the utility.

This program is on the way down. I sometimes think it would be easier just to use Excel. You can make better reports and graphs, and at least you can customize them. Next year, I'm waiting for another program, and so should you.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - It Works, but Beware the Bugs
The good news is that Quicken 2008 does its basic job well. I am able to track my finances all in one place and see in an instant what my situation is.

The bad news is that I am forced to use the 2008 version because the 2005 version I was using was "retired" by Intuit, so no more online account updates using that version. That wouldn't be so big a problem if this version actually worked as well as 2005. There are two major issues I haven't been able to resolve. The new "My Savings Plan" just won't work right. The numbers don't get carried through from month to month, and not all scheduled transactions get entered into it. Good luck getting information from the help file. I finally gave up on it.

The really annoying thing is the almost constant "server outages" that Intuit has. The reason I got Quicken over Money is that it has the ability to get data from a bank's website without actually having to visit the website and remember passwords. I have a constant "server outage" for one bank and it happens at least twice a week for 2 more. That's wasted time having to log on the the website, select transactions to download, and downloading them.

In summary, if you don't have to upgrade, don't. If you do, go ahead, but there will be problems. If you're just starting to use a PC to deal with finances, get Money.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Quicken Home & Business 2008
I'm a long time Quicken user, and have upgraded from the 2006 version of Home & Business.

The 2006 version of Quicken was buggy, & Intuit support recommended that I upgrade to the 2008 version, where the bugs were supposedly resolved. Most of the bugs in 2006 had to do with being able to download stock and fund prices. This is a pretty basic feature of a product sold to manage your finances, but the quote downloads were totally unreliable. Sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't.

Forward to the 2008 version. It is worse than the 2006 version. Quote downloads don't work reliably. Tonight they did not work at all -- not unusual. Manage investments using Quicken? No way. Additionally, the 2008 program crashes regularly -- three times tonight.

I would have rated the product zero stars if that was possible.

Will I buy an Intuit product again? I doubt it.
