 - Works for meFor about 7 months, I've been running this software on my Vista home premium laptop and my XP Media Center desktop and haven't had any problems at all. Both of my systems operate smoothly, even during full system scans. I've used a few different internet security suites and so far this is the best. I only gave it 4 stars because the extra features (Duplicate finder, disk defragmenter) are mediocre. Pros: Easy to use/configure, Updates every hour, not a resource hog. Cons: Seems like some extra features were just added as fillers. Rating:  - really great dealGreat value, product works very well. It is light on system resources. I've run 3 other security suites on this machine, the others being Webroot, Norton, and McAfee. It is much lighter on system resources than Webroot and Norton and has a faster startup and scan times. A little more demanding than McAfee, but not to the point that performance suffers. The firewall is much easier to train than Webroot's and McAfee. The backup service is nice, but maybe not needed for all users. Overall, the best suite I've owned so far. Rating:  - Don't Trust It!I thought BiDefender was protecting my computer, but I was wrong! Instead, it infected me with an obnoxious trojan/virus. Their technical support appeared helpful in the beginning, but after three weeks of emails back and forth and several 6-hour scans, I gave up. They never could remove the virus. I had my computer checked out by BestBuy who said I was so badly infected I should do a complete system recovery, which I was about to do when I decided to give Kaspersky 7.0 a try. Well, it cleaned my whole system and eliminated 61 virus/trojan/adware files and my computer is now working just great. I suppose BitDefender works fine, as long as you don't get infected. My advice, stay away from it--try Kaspersky instead. Rating: - BitDefender free online scannerI have to jump in here ... I can attest that Bitdefender free online scanner is fabulous! My machine was totally cheesed - AVG found nothing, Avast found nothing, but BitDefender wiped out the bugs and I am VERY impressed. Had I not read these reviews I would have probably purchased their newest version. Rating: - What happened to my system...?This is truly a horrible piece of software. After installing and using BitDefender over the course of a week my system became RIDICULOUSLY unstable! Suddenly games that I had run flawlessly for years would suffer nasty drops in framerate and sometimes totally freeze up. Any multitasking resulted in a crash, processes would load into memory but never appear onscreen, all sorts of nasty things. I thought I had a virus that BitDefender wasn't catching...turns out the cause was the anti-virus software itself! Uninstalled BitDefender and suddenly everything works like a charm again. I'm now using AdAware Pro and Outpost Pro as a firewall, with no problems. I should add that I am on Windows XP x64, perhaps it is more stable on x86 operating systems. As far as I'm concerned though, BitDefender is pathetic, PATHETIC software, do not pay money for this!
