Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A big improvement in every way over my HP
Forgetting that this is an all in one unit and simply judging it for it's printing capabilities it away my old HP photo printer. I was really not in the market for an all in one unit since I already had a scanner, but having it all in one unit is convenient. In terms of printing alone the speed and quality is amazing. My old HP never seemed to print the photos looking like they did on the screen no matter how I tried to calibrate the monitor to match the printer output. I used to have to extremely lighten up the picture with image software by trial and error. The Canon gets it almost exact and I haven't changed a setting. I love the idea separate ink tanks. I used to hate buying a tricolor HP cartridge just because one color ran out. I ended up buying a refill kit but that didn't work or hold up. I understand that the Canon has limits to refilling without disabling tank level indictors but I don't I will bother. The Canon inks seem to be pretty good in terms or results and how well they hold up over time. My only complaint and I really don't mind is that it is a bit squeaky when initializing or after printer. I actually exchanged the first one I got just to make sure it wasn't defective. The second one is better but still a bit noisy. I have also checked with others claim they have similar noise issues. The bottom line is that I would still buy this printer if I had to do it all over again. I paid [...] at Circuit City and there was a [...] dollar rebate on it at the time. I don't care about the fact that it doesn't fax since I generally fax things from work. Nowadays most faxable items can just be scanned into an email and If I really had to fax something from home I could just connect the PC's modem which I have never used. I would like it even more if it had wireless network capabilities, but I couldn't find a wireless model from Canon that would have satisfied my printing needs without going to near double the price. There were other brands that had cheap wireless available but not with the same features and or an ink system I was willing to accept.

Anyway... fabulous printer at a great price... enough said!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great printer
I'm really happy with this printer. All the features are easy to use. Photos on the Canon glossy photo paper came out great, just like prints from a shop. I also really like using the duplex printing feature, its fool proof. Highly recommended!

This is the best printer I have ever owned. Time will tell if it remains that good.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - 'ware the dreaded U150 error!
I purchased a Canon MP610 back in January 08. Within the first week a 'U150' error pops up - the printer no longer recognizes one of the ink cartridges that shipped with the printer. I contact Canon, they promptly ship me a replacement cartridge. I replace the defective one and all is good. I figure it was a fluke, which can happen with any product.

Come April the main black ink cartridge is empty and needs replacing. I purchase a new one, which works well UNTIL today - I get a 'U150' error, stating that the ink cartridge cannot be recognized by the printer. Though it worked fine yesterday, today this relatively new cartridge, made by Canon, isn't recognized by the Canon printer.

If (should I say 'when'?) you get a U150 error, you now have a large paperweight on your desk - it won't scan, copy, print, NOTHING until you replace what is most likely a perfectly good, EXPENSIVE ink cartridge.

This printer has seen LIGHT usage, as my wife and I, our needs are few. To have a factory-made ink cartridge that cannot be recognized by the printer is UNACCEPTABLE.

Do a google search on Canon and U150 and you'll see this problem is more than just a fluke of MY printer.

Except for this SIGNIFICANT problem I've loved this printer. However, this kind of problem is a deal breaker for me - if I can't depend on the printer to at least PRINT, what did I buy it for?

Until Canon fixes this problem with their ink cartridges, I would recommend you consider other manufacturers.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Canon Beats HP
After almost a month, I am convinced that Canon makes a better printer than HP. I have owned the P1100 HP photoprinter for some years and it was only ok... The Canon Pixma MP610 has been wonderful so far, with no problems at all. It is fast, easy to install (tech support even helped me make it work with a networked Win98 computer) and has so many features for it's relatively low price.
