- Very Nice Printer I bought this printer a little over a month ago to replace an 9 year old HP Deskjet printer. I was really sad to see it go, and wondered if the new, less expensive printers could match up to the performance of the older one. After much research I decided to give the Canon Pixma a try. Esthetic: The printer is a sleek black and gray design. It is a lot larger than I thought, but my desk is very long, so it doesn't look out of place next to my Sony Vaio LT Desktop. But, if you have a small workspace, this printer may take up too much space. Ease of Set Up: I ran into a few problems with Vista recognizing this printer at first and had to run set-up a few times before the driver was completely installed. Performance: This printer is very fast! So fast you would almost think you were giving up performance for efficiency, but that is not the case with this printer. I have used it for basic black text and Internet printing, as well as graphic-heavy school projects and pictures, and it has worked great in both cases. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. It is a great machine for home printing projects like basic text, presentations and pictures. Rating: - Some good features, butNice printer, but this was a replacement for my HP Photosmart. The photosmart was very old, but still did a great job until recently. I thought from the reviews that this printer would do a nice job of replacing the HP. So far the printing quality is not near as good as the HP. One of the review stated this printer did cd disk printing, thats one of the reasons I got it. It does not.I like that you can switch trays and put different size paper in the bottom tray and print on the fly from either tray. I put in the 4x6 size in the bottom and keep it there. That is a real handy feature, but the overall printing just does not come up to the HP. I have had HP for years and they always do a nice job with photographs. I think Canon could have matched the quality in this price range if they wanted to. Rating: - Ink Jet PrinterEasy to set-up and use. The printer is fast and has been flawless so far. Used as a general purpose printer for home PC.. Recommended.. Rating: - Canon Pixma ip 4500I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for extremely high quality at a modest price. I am truly amazed at the quality of the photos that it produces, and it is very user friendly. It walks you through the process of printing photos and documents with easily understandable instructions, and the results are first rate. Rating: - Canon ip 4500 printerThe printer is different from the same model they sell overseas. It block the DVD cover print function.
