- Great new version of QuickBooks! We bought this to upgrade our existing QuickBooks Pro 2005, and we couldn't be happier! Upgrading was a snap, and conversion of the data files went smoothly. All users say it is very similar to QB Pro 2005, so there was not a huge learning curve. 2008 includes a file server for the computer containing the actual data files, and we have noticed improved speed from the server using this program. All in all, very much worth the price! Rating: - QuickBooks 2008 3 UserWe selected this version for our hospitality business to replace a 2004 single user version so that more than one person could access the database for input or report writing at the same time. So far it is working to our complete satisfaction. Rating: - Be prepared to troubleshoot errorsThe lack of proper Quality Assurance is evident in QB 08. In addition to the .net framework errors you may receive and have to work around when installing and configureing QB, there is now the joy of having to call customer service overseas to "register" your product. My users have recently had an error were Quickbooks won't properly load files from a network file share. In addition to these problems, be prepared to have to load the database agent on your file server if you have users access the QB files via a share drive. Rating: - Quickbooks Pro 2008 3 userI have been using Quickbooks for 13 years and it has really helped with the bookkeeping for our business. It makes tax time much easier to have all the information in one area. Rating: - Amazon is the place to buy but be careful about getting hooked in to QuickbooksWe started with Quickbooks when the prices and upgrade policies were fair. Now, they do these periodic upgrades with minimally useful features. Frequently they get rid of useful features in the upgrade. They force you to upgrade by cutting off support for payroll services for previous versions. Their payroll services cost a chunk of money. They also decided that my 5 user license was not upgradable--only get 3 users now. On top of all that, the upgrade license costs as much if not more than just buying a new version. Customer service is horrid. We used them to process payroll and they were a day late in delivering payroll to our employees--talked to them. They didn't view it as a major problem--my employees and the law sure does. The credit card service makes frequent mistakes on bank fees--again not a major problem..just correct it yourself. Isn't the point of accounting software to give me accurate accounts. I do hope they get a competitor soon...c'mon Microsoft or Google...here's an arrogant company that needs to get its comeuppance.
