Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Soldier First Class Zack
I'm a Final Fantasy VII addict, so my opinion might be a little biased since I love the story line. A lot of information is found out about who Zack was, since it is discussed very little in Final Fantasy VII. I always kind of assumed he was a low level flunky, since when playing in Cloud's memory, you have to rely on Sephiroth to beat any monsters that one runs into. There's a lot of growing up done by Zack in the game. I wish it was longer! "Protect your SOLDIER honor!"

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fair Zack Fair
I enjoyed the game. The one flaw I could find in the game itself is that cut scenes cannot be skipped over.

For me, the important part of these sequel/prequels to Final Fantasy VII is the history of them, not the fact that they are continuing the franchise. I fell in love with the story of FFVII, not the style of gameplay.

So, for those who like the story line, do not mind long, excessive numbers of cut scenes, and like a bit of humor in the storyline... Well, you might've found a great game.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great game
First off, I love this game and any fan of the FF series should definatly buy it.
The only thing I don't like about the game is the lvling system, you have no control over your characters lvl, its litterally a slot machine and you lvl up when it hits 777.
Aside from that though very good game.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Final Fantasy VII: Return to the Past.
This is a great game for Final Fantasy VII fans like myself. I have not yet finished this game but I have reached the inevitable events at Nibelheim. This part of the game is well worth buying the game for for any fan. But also to see how Aerith and Zack relate to each other is quite touching. Many of the Characters from the Original FFVII game are in this. Those that aren't are at least mentioned or referred to in an abstract way. You learn many things in this game such as the true origin of the Buster Sword, what rank Cloud really was when he was with Shinra, and why did Sephiroth snap. This game was definitely made for the fans.

Now for the technical stuff. The graphics are the best I have seen for the PSP. Truly beautiful scenery and character design helps to immerse you into the game. The High Res cut scenes are fantastic and comparable to the Advent Children movie for quality.
Game play is rather on the easy side but that is made up for with quantity of game play. There is lots to do as far as fighting goes with the Missions feature. Heck there is one mission where you have to fight off 1000 Shinra security troops. Some people will like the DMW feature that randomly happens to give you a boost in battle. My only problem with that is that it too luck based. But since you do have a luck attribute then you might be able to finagle it to work for you though I have yet to try that myself.
So far I have put in over 30hrs of game play and am trying to help Cloud regain conciseness after spending unknown amount of days in a Mako infusing tube. There is however as I understand it a "Play Game +" mode so maybe it gets harder the second time through.

If you never played the Original FFVII there is stuff here for you to enjoy and you might be inspired to check out the old game. But for any long time FFVII fan this is a must have.
