Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - bad support for vista, printing problems
I bought this printer two months ago.

first, if the system is Windows Vista, the scanner function of the printer could not work properly. I have checked many forums for the solutions and tried some of them, but none works.

second, after i have switched to Windows XP, other problems appear. The most often is that printing will stopped at half page. It would then take a few minutes for the printer to send out the page unfinished, and start printing the same page again and fails again. the whole thing will repeat unless you manually cancel the job.

I am not happy with this printer and going to return it to my retailer for an replacement.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - HP PhotoSmart C4480 All-in-One Printer (Q8388A)
Loved this product. Has worked like a champ. Already running out of ink though, so I've put it through its paces. Nice sharp pictures.
A suggestion would be to have the ability to change lightness and darkness manually from the printer itself. The WINDOWS VISTA program didn't allow me to just change it for a print job. Also, wish there was a way in these type of printers if you had something oversized you could manage the lid to allow for it??? (idea)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great quality for a low price
A great quality printer for the price. Does it all, copy, scan and print. It accepts memory cards from my camera which I can print directly on photo paper in the printer, or load the photos to a file on my computer hard drive. The only drawback I can point out is that it does not accept a flash memory stick.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Works Great
I really wanted a printer that wasn't very expensive and printed quickly. That's exactly what I got. You should buy this printer if your a casual printer or a student.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - FAIL
I got this printer free with my MacBook and it's looking more and more like that's about what it's worth. I might have given it two stars but admittedly I am writing this after spending the past 25 minutes dealing with an apparently unsolvable paper jam. As another review noted, this printer got to the end of the paper supply and after that it was more jams than Hot 97. I keep turning it on and off (which in itself is another problem and it won't always turn on and off, sometimes you have to pull the plug) and now all it wants to do is suck in more paper and feed it out without printing anything until it jams yet again.
Another issue I've had with this printer is with scanning-- you have to adjust the scan size yourself manually in the preview window (which doesn't automatically open when you scan), otherwise it will by default scan each of your pages at a different random size and shape! (?!?!)
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's planned obsolescence. This thing was not built to last, it wasn't even built to work well for a few months! I got it just two months ago, and only use it to print out contracts and recipes, it's not even getting much use and I've already had this many issues with it.
