Stewart Toys started in April of 2001 in my home, spare bedroom to be exact, with one goal in mind, to provide me with enough income to stay home with my son. Lets just say that my little toy store did not stay small for long, soon my garage was full of toys, and my living room, and other parts of my house. By this time I was no longer able to care for my son at home and soon he was back at school (daycare) with his friends. My wife and I decided it was probably time to get this mess out of our house, and we moved into our first toy store in Feb. of 2002 (not exactly the best time to open a toy store). The store was small (1500 sf) but it accomplished my goal which was to get high quality toys to people who would not normally be able to afford them. It worked well, too well maybe, I soon found myself packed into that store. Soon it was hard to push everything inside so I could lock the doors and leave. I got the feeling that my landlord at the time could really not figure out what I was doing (who would open a toy store in the back a shopping center with no sign in Feb. and be successful). In August of 2002 the original store was just too small to be able to make it through holiday season of 2002, and my landlord put together a great lease for a larger space (over 4000 sf) in the front of the same shopping center. The current web site went through a complete facelift at this time and the current logo was born. After moving into the new store we put up a sign (never had one before) and the local people soon started to find us. Mid October 2002 it was becoming increasing difficult to run the website at it current volume. We decided to switch from our in-house designed website to Zoovy (www.zoovy.com). We gave up a little design freedom to get a better performing website. I hope you enjoy it. In January 2004 we moved again into a much larger facility with approximately 50% more retail display space front and double the warehouse space Thank you to everyone who has helped to grow this little toy store.. Founder, David Stewart
