Dukes of Hazzard Trivia Facts and interesting news.

1.The Dukes of Hazzard had product sales up to 200 million dollars annually which included more than 400 different products. Which included sales of toy General Lees that outsold Rubik's Cube one of the most popular toys of the time.

2.The General Lee was a 1969 Dodge Charger. The show totaled at least two per episode. The General Lee actually got half of all the fan mail. Paul Picard proclaimed the car the star of the show.A statement which may have helped cause John Schneider and Tom Wopat to have quit the show during the Coy and Vance Duke reign. Schneider and Wopat were also upset about the lack of money they were receiving from the sale of the toys and other Dukes merchandise.

3.On April 26, 1981 with two Dukes of Hazzard reruns, the Dukes became number 1 and number 2 in the ratings for that week. CBS executives were perplexed that what they had considered the be the worst show on television could have got such great ratings. CBS has always had a vendetta against any show with more than one tree per episode, going back to the time CBS decided to cancel every rural show at the end of the sixties. These shows included Green Acres, the Beverly Hillbillies, Mayberry R.F.D, and Petticoat Junction.

 4. John Schneider and Tom Wopat walked off the show in the fifth season to be replaced by Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer as Coy and Vance Duke on episode 85. The ratings dipped way down, until Bo and Luke came back after missing 18 episodes. The ratings were back up the same week.
