Larry Bird, the Living Legend, is one of the greatest players to ever play the game. He came from a hard-scrabble little town in southern Indiana to win the loyal and unwavering support of Celtics fans, (the most steadfast and loyal in all of sports). Bird captured rookie of the year honors in the 1979-80 season and was named to twelve NBA All-Star games, being named the All-Star game MVP in 1982. From 1984 thru 1986, Bird captured three consecutive MVP awards. Bird had superb vision, wonderfully strong hands, and, most importantly, an intutive sense of how to use his athletic gifts instantly and to their maximum effect. While leading the Boston Celtics to three NBA titles, he was twice named MVP of the NBA Finals. After an illustrious playing career, Bird went back home again to Indiana to capture "Coach of the Year" honors in his coaching debut with the Indiana Pacers.
