Score ( also known as Golden Triangle:
[Part 1)
Crockett & Tubbs are saddled with a
particularly embarrassing assignment-posing as hotel security! After
a bad scuffle with a PCP addict, they all but beg Castillo to
reassign them. He refuses, because there is more going on at this
hotel than meets the eye. Outlaw cops are shaking down the call
girls, and Castillo wants them destroyed. Needing a contact, Sonny
sits by the pool looking like a tourist new in Miami, or some might
say the consummate bumbling computer nerd. His waiting pays off, in
the form of Candy James, who asks for a little help applying her
suntan oil. She smoothly propositions Sonny, who just as smoothly
pulls out his badge. Down at the station, Candy grows impatient in
the station, with little information to give on the suspected cops,
Ross and Garcia, but she's willing to play along. Returning to the
hotel, Crockett & Tubbs set up the sting. While guarding the
vault to maintain cover, a guy comes in to “tour” the facilities
(checking out its security before he entrusts them with anything.
Later on it turns out the same guy is watching the vice proceedings
and assumes the “call girls” are emplyed by hotel security.
After dark, Candy is accosted by the crooked cops who drag her down
the alley and attempt to extort money from her. Crockett and Tubbs
listen over the wire getting angry because it sounds like they’re
going to work her over if she refuses. Charging in once enough is
recorded, they find Candy’s been roughed up. Her file is clear,
but she’s not happy with them.
The next morning on Sonny’s boat, both are
exasperated to find out both cops have made bail. The touring guy
appears, hoping to talk with “hotel security” and cut a deal. ID’d
later as Albert Zarbo at the station, something seems a little off.
Zarbo’s done everything but burglary. Castillo tells them to
follow him down.
Back at the hotel, Sonny gets a shock when he sees
Candy out picking up guys again! He drags her aside at just the
wrong moment, because Zarbo strolls in, but looking for some
entertainment, not his business with Sonny. Sonny accidentally tips
his hand and reveals he knows Zarbo’s name, but covers it by
saying he checked him out. “It pays when you’re in hotel
security.” Zarbo heads upstairs with Candy on his arm.
Crockett’s ranting to Tubbs in the vault when
Candy sashes in with Zarbo’s car keys. Perhaps there’s a clue in
there? What they find goes well beyond a clue--enough plastic
explosive to level the hotel! Then the glove box yields a receipt
for a room at a dive hotel, but what’s it for? Running into Zarbo
and his assistant on the way back in, he reveals that he’s checked
them out--but through Ross! He’s about to expose them for ratting
them out when Candy cops to turning him in. An angry Ross makes a
huge mistake by slapping Candy. Crockett & Tubbs beat him
senseless. The deal with Zarbo is grudgingly made, and he reveals
the plan--not knowing what vault the goods are in, he’s blowing
them all! Castillo allows the plan to go forward, but it does...
without them. One trip in was all they needed to punch the vault, so
what was in there? Zarbo wouldn’t be telling them, since Switek
and Zito found him and his assistant in the dive’s room, murdered.
By chance Switek lets it slip that the assistant was Thai, and
Castillo dashes to the morgue. He recognizes the marks of a ritual
killing on the assistant, and reveals where he’s seen it before.
Castillo was a DEA operative in the Golden Triangle years ago, and
now the heroin operation of his old adversary, General Lao Li, is
coming to Miami. A search is launched of every Thai restaurant in
the city, and once he’s found, Castillo faces off with the
assassin hand-to-hand. He wins a hard-fought battle, but it’s no
use. The assassin kills himself by swallowing his own tounge. The
killer’s personal effects show that the vault yielded immigration
visas for operatives in Lao Li’s network, including one Thai woman
in a photo taken outside Miami International Airport. Castillo
shocks everyone by identifying the girl.....
