Cool Runnin': It was supposed to be a two-kilo drug deal, until the buyers machine-gunned the suppliers. Sonny and Rico tail them through the streets, but the van's back doors fly open and they opened fire on the windshield. Even driving blind, Tubbs manages to stop the car. This is the tenth drug rip-off in under a month, and it looks like the same group in over half of them. Following orders from Rodriguez, they get some rest by throwing a party on Crockett's boat, inviting a few cops and their dates. One young pair is Bobby and Jake, who make a bet with Sonny and Rico that they can get more kilos of drugs off the street by the end of the month. Reluctantly, Sonny and Rico accept. The next day, Stan and Larry are setting up a stolen goods deal while dropping a name for Sonny and Rico-Desmond Maxwell. The contact arrives early, so the cops try to blend in. In walks Nougat Neverly Lamont (A.K.A. Noogie, the Noog-man), emptying his pockets of merchandise and shooting his mouth off to Stan about what other hot items he has in his car. Larry and his camera are exposed, but they've got enough. Sonny and Rico grab and cuff Noogie before he can run. Down at the station, The computer draws a blank on Desmond Maxwell, but the ballistics are in. Last night's shooters were the same gang as those in a string of rip-offs over six counties in South Florida. Suddenly Noogie speaks up and claims to know Maxwell and where he can be found. Going with him, Sonny and Rico sit at the counter in a reggae bar until Noogie ID's a stranger as Maxwell's frontman and bums $60 off Sonny to get information. When only the stranger comes out of the restroom, Sonny and Rico charge in and end up chasing Noogie down the block. He admits he doesn't know Maxwell, which earns him another ride in the Daytona. . . in the trunk! Later Sonny meets Caroline and her lawyer for lunch and a bombshell is dropped. Caroline wants to move back to Atlanta and take Billy with her. Sonny's not willing to give up being a father, and promises a fierce court battle. Leaving the restaurant, Sonny gets a call from Rico. The news is devastating. A preliminary meet went bad, and without backup, Bobby never had a chance. Jake is seriously wounded. The wire Bobby wore reveals the entire meet with Jamaican dealers, and Jake painfully gasps out mumbled words in an attempt to identify the shooters. Ballistics prove that it's the same gang, and Lester the electronics guy will try to clarify the recording. Trudy finds out that Maxwell has no record in Florida, but he did Federal time in Atlanta. What a coincidence, So did Noogie! Meeting him in holding, Noogie reluctantly agrees to set up a meet with Maxwell. At the meet, Rico offers $300,000 for ten kilos of coke, but Sonny adds they'll only be available for contact until midnight. Rico realizes too late that the locale they gave Maxwell is Noogie's home. Sonny promises full protection for him, admitting he's upset over Bobby and Jake. That's why he's willing to cut corners to bring Maxwell down. Before they even get Noogie home, Rodriguez calls them to say the operation is called off, Homicide has nailed the shooters. Two Hatians were caught driving the van, which they claim they found abandoned. Sonny finds out that the arresting officer got a little violent in the interrogation room and almost thrashes the guy for jeopardizing the case. Something doesn't feel right to Rico. He was sure the voices on the tape were Jamaican. When Lester gives them the deciphered tape, Jake is heard saying "Three Jamaicans, Red El Dorado" His words back up the Hatians' story. Homicide has the wrong men! Rico calls Noogie, but Maxwell and his men are there, guns at the ready. Sonny clashes with the SWAT commander over Noogie's safety during the entry, so he and Rico form their own plan. Sonny arrives at Noogie's apartment alone, leading one of Maxwell's gunmen out to the Daytona to get the cash. But all that's in the trunk is Rico, with a stungun! He fries the shooter, then puts on his jacket, cap, and shades to go back to the apartment. As soon as the door opens, Sonny and Rico take down the second gunman, and but Maxwell opens fire, winging Noogie and driving Sonny and Rico back. He uses Noogie as a shield as he sprays gunfire into the hallway then retreats into the bedroom. Sonny and Rico charge in, only to find Maxwell dead. A police sharpshooter got him. Lou rushes in with the paramedics, bringing the news that Jake has come out of his coma. He's going to be okay. The next day, Sonny and Rico head to the hospital to see Jake, and Noogie is being released. Noogie says he looks forward to their "working relationship", tells them to call anytime, and raps his way to his car. Sonny and Rico can only shake their heads and laugh.
