Twist:
Sonny and Rico
are called to the emergency room when a deliveryman is mortally
stabbed for his morphine shipment. Cindy, a hospital visitor saw the
assault and snapped a picture, only now the paper put her face on the
front page. Whoever ordered or committed the murder can go after her
now. She can’t find him in the mugshots, but Castillo may have
something. Interpol has ID’d the killer as Sirat Bandi, a
mule-for-hire with high weapons proficiency. Plus, the Canadian
government wants him back to testify in a death-penalty case.
Interpol’s sending Inspector Danielle Hyer in to assist. Sonny and
Danielle get a slightly rocky start, but she confirms their worst
fear: Bandi doesn’t like leaving witnesses alive. Their next stop is
the safehouse, where Cindy snaps their picture and gets annoyed
repeating her story to Danielle. Later that night, Cindy never gets
off the phone, so Rico doesn’t notice when she slips out to visit
her boyfriend David again. Trusting his instincts, Rico call for
backup to meet him at the hospital. Rico arrives and hauls Cindy out
of her boyfriend’s room. But outside, Bandi’s gunner lies in wait,
and as David shouts a warning, he fires. Stan takes off after him
while Rico guards a grazed Cindy. Danielle shows up at the office
blaming Rico for the incident, but backs off when Sonny defends him.
Rico meets Sonny later on the boat, informing him that he’s tapped
Danielle’s phone, yet he doesn’t know what the real problem with
her is. The next morning, Castillo has a confirmed report that Bandi
was sighted at a Miami hotel, and he’s still in his room. Danielle
warns that it’s probably a trap, so Castillo warns the squad to use
extra caution. Sonny and Stan creep into Bandi’s room, with Rico
covering the window. Hearing the shower running, they draw guns and
edge toward the bathroom door, until Stan feels a tripwire with his
leg. They scream and dive out to the hallway as an explosive
demolishes half the room.
That night,
Sonny interrupts a meeting Danielle’s having in her hotel lobby,
ripping into her about what she’s holding back, while she argues
that they could’ve paid more attention. Her meeting, she says, was
with men in the morphine business, and she was trying to set up a
sting. Then things start to turn a little passionate. The phone rings
and Sonny answers to find that it’s Rico, with information from the
phone tap. Danielle’s been online with a Paris office Interpol
bigshot named Zolan, with no spots on his record, but a vendetta
against Bandi. Rico asks Trudy to run another check on Danielle. Not
through police files, but criminal records this time. Meanwhile,
Danielle meets with Castillo, informing him that Sonny and the
morphine buyers are going to run a sting on Bandi. Sullivan, the
gunner flip-flops on helping them, but Sonny gives him the usual
decision: cooperation or conviction. While Rico goes to the hotel,
Sullivan answers Bandi’s call, but over the line the squad hears a
bellhop report in to Bandi about a black cop looking for him. Minutes
later Rico enters the room, only to find the bellhop, murdered.
Back at the
station, Rico has more information from the phone tap. Zolan has been
feeding Danielle information, which leads Sonny to argue with her on
the boat that night. Things won’t be getting passionate again
tonight, and Danielle is confronted by the wrong partner in her hotel
room. Rico warns her to leave Sonny alone and get out of Miami, or
he’ll bring the press down on her. Danielle disappears.
The next
morning, Bandi calls again and sets up the meet with Sullivan: Jackson
Park, 10:00. Rico meets Sonny insecret with what he found from the
records check. Danielle is a terrorist mole inside Interpol, with a
gift for planting bombs. The morphine guys were in on her assignment,
silencing Bandi, a former contract operative who knows too much. That
night, Bandi arrives at the river from an unexpected direction and
pulls a gun on Sullivan. Sonny rushes in, taking both himself and
Sullivan off the dock, while Rico chases a fleeing Bandi over the
drawbridge. Sonny only makes it to the bridge as it opens and can only
hang on at the top. Rico makes it across the river before the bridge
opens, only to find Bandi shot dead at Danielle’s feet. She explains
her motive and surrenders her gun. Before Sonny’s eyes, Rico turns
away and Danielle draws Bandi’s gun from her coat and explains that
now he must be silenced. Having no choice, Sonny levels his gun and
takes Danielle down. Au revoir!
