Vice – Where Are They Now? The
Musicians
After over 15 years of touring, collaborating with various musicians(such as Jeff Beck, Neal Schon, Carlos Santana…) and designing the original strap-on keyboard “The Probe”, Hammer was tapped by TV producer Michael Mann to compose and perform the unique New Age/Rock N’Roll score of Miami Vice, which won him a massive American audience. The Miami Vice theme music shot to #1 in America in 1985, also earning him 2 Grammys in 1986 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Best Instrumental Composition. The often-featured “Crockett’s Theme” topped the European charts in 1987. Later that year Jan released sort of a ‘Greatest Hits’ album from his work on Vice, entitled Escape From Television, which featured both #1 hits.
