Editorial Review: Product Description: Pete Sampras is a fascinating insight into the Wimbledon career of arguably the greatest Men¹s Champion of all-time. This documentary follows the journey of the seven-time winner from his inauspicious debut in 1989 to his record breaking victory in 2000 and his last match at The Championships in 2002. This program features contributions from many of Sampras¹ greatest rivals who themselves were great Wimbledon champions including Boris Becker, Andre Agassi and Goran Ivanisevic. The current champion Roger Federer and the 1996 champion Richard Krajicek recall their respective victories over Sampras with further contributions from Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, Martina Hingis, Jim Courier, Tim Henman and Tom Gullikson, brother of Sampras¹ coach Tim. Rating: - how soon we forget...While Roger Federer may indeed be the best player ever to hold a racket -- and he may break all of Pete Sampras' records -- watching this DVD reminded me of just how great Sampras was. At his best, Sampras was every bit as sublime as Federer; it's just too bad Federer had to come along so soon after Sampras retired. This DVD is a fitting tribute to Sampras, featuring extensive match footage and interviews with the players who knew him best: Agassi, Courier, Becker, Ivanicevic, Krajicec, ... Read More |
