Raised by a devout uncle, Gwyn develops into a headstrong young woman who's resentful of her father's prolonged absences. When Robin Hood at last comes to visit his daughter, Gwyn's impulsive disrespect of his wishes endangers his life and the rightful succession of Prince Philip to the throne of England. Deceit and chance throw Gwyn and Philip together, the pair forms an unlikely alliance, and Gwyn's unique perspective prompts Philip to rethink his beliefs and ambitions, and ultimately changes England's entire future. A talented cast includes Keira Knightley, Malcolm McDowell, Stuart Wilson, Jonathan Hyde, and Stephen Moyer. Adventure, heroism, and folklore reign in this entertaining, 90-minute made-for-TV movie from Disney. (Ages 8-13) --Tami Horiuchi Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Average movie, standout performanceI missed this movie when it first appeared on DVD/video but out of curiosity have gone back and watched it. Overall, it's a mediocre production, but what stands out is the dynamic performance of the then mostly unknown Keira Knightley, which foreshadows what she would do in her subsequent star-making roles. In his rave review of "Pride and Prejudice," Washington Post critic Stephen Hunter described Knightley as a "lioness" and "a force of nature," and, though they're not as refined here, she brings ... Slightly predictable but still a good movie to watch on a lazy afternoon. Rating: - Princess of ThievesI have always loved the story of Robin Hood and this female take on the story justs adds to the adventure. Rating: - "Wish for a thief, you'll get one."In 2001, Disney produced PRINCESS OF THIEVES, a made-for-television movie which not only dusted off the legend of Robin Hood but engagingly added to it. It featured the lovely Keira Knightley, who was then only 15 years old and took time off from school to shoot this picture. The following year would cause her star to prominently ascend with the release of BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM, but, even as early as in this film, one can plainly see the natural acting abilities and vivaciousness which radiated from this ... And third but not least the story is fun and kind of a fary tale which I've always liked since I was a little girl, besides it involves adventure and courage which is appealing to keep people interested on it. I've really loved it, it is a great fun movie for all audiences. |
